Tomorrow is it!!!! I have made it through the 3 week liquid diet and ready to go. This liquid diet was a great way to get started despite the first week withdrawls. I went to my first support group meeting this week and was able to get on the scale for the first time since I started. I don't mean to brag, oh who am I kidding, 40 freaking pounds in 20 days!!! I have battled this weight for 15 years and and I lose 40 pounds in 20 days???? Why didn't I do this sooner??? I am very new to this site and very impressed with the support that is out there. It's nice to know I'm not alone with this battle.

Woo hoo!  Congrats on the weight loss.  It will continue!  Dr. Farhan did my surgery 3 years ago.  He was great.  Although, I do have to say, I'm so glad they didn't make us do the 3 week liquid diet!  When I had my surgery, we only had to do "eat light" for 48 hours and liquids only for the 24 hours prior to surgery.

Good luck tomorrow!  I'm sure you'll do fine!  Tina

Thank you. I'm curious about the significant difference with the diet???? Did you have a full open surgery or the laproscopic? Is this new liquid diet a new thing?

When I had surgery three years ago, Farhan was hand-picking his lap patients.  I had no co-morbidities and was considered "too healthy for my weight" by Dr. Minasian.  So, I was "chosen" as a lap RNY candidate.  At the time, they did not require the 3 week liquid diet.  I don't know when exactly that they started the 3 week pre-op diet, but I have noticed that Hurley's patients mention it now.
