Anyone NOT have to do the liquid pre-op diet?

I am not complaining, but I was not told to do the pre-op liquid diet since I have lost 47 pounds pre-op.  I asked if they were sure and I was told yes.  But what should I be eating this week?  Oh sorry.....my surgery is 8/29.....just don't want to screw this up!  Thanks.

Congrats on losing the 47 pounds already.  Your off to a great start.

I had mine done at Barix and they did not require us to do liquid diet.  We did have to do clear liquids for 24 or 48 hour prior to surgery. 

I would call your doctor to verify what they would like you to do.  Every doctor is different.

I agree, call your dr.  I know that we are required to have liquids only the week before surgery, Call the office and its better to be safe than sorry....

I did liquids only for the 24 hours prior to surgery, other than that normal foods.  Great job on losing 47 pounds, enjoy the week and strap in for an amazing ride!!

I only had to do liquids 24 hours prior to surgery and to "eat light" 48 hours before.  But I agree with the others.  Call your doc and see what they recommend.  Tina

No liquid diet for me. In fact my surgeon wanted a "normal" bowel to look at while doing the procedure so I didn't even have to do the "nothing by mouth after midnight" thing either.

Sorry I can't help you. Has surgery with barix and only had to do the clear liquids the day before.

Haven't you been given any guidelines of what to have from your surgeon? If not, they are not doing their job and you need to give them a call. Doctors all have different versions of liquid diets and someone else's advice might be contradictory from that of your surgeon.

Call your surgeon's office today.
