Traverse City Munson Bariatric Clinic??

I'm curious if anyone has personal experience with the qualification process at the Munson Bariatric Clinic in Traverse City, Michigan?  I am at the first stage in the qualification process my stats are age 38, 5'4", 253 lbs, BMI 44, type 2 diabetic insulin dependant and insulin resistant treated with Metformin, PCOS, hyperplaysia, arthitis, infertility, sleeping disorder, and reactive depression. What worries me is a lack of Doctor assisted weight loss treatment. I have extensive dieting with weight monitoring with a doctor. Any help or information would be helpful.

Hello Heidi,

I went through the Munson Bariatric Clinic.  My surgeon was Dr. Slikkers. They are very knowledgeable and based on your comorbidities you should qualify for help.  I think that a lot of your questions about weight loss treatment would have to go to your insurance company. Who do you have? As for Munson they were great. If you have any other questions about the process don't be afraid to ask.

Thanks Joni... you set my mind at ease. I'm from Ontario, Canada so I go through our Government (OHIP) I still need to get the paperwork to see what they require for weight loss treatment. I have heard nothing but good about Munson and the staff. I can't wait to get down there.

Hi Again!

I had my surgery on 4/27/07.  I have lost a total of 139lbs. I haven't lost any weight for about 2 months now.  Mostly due to my hatred of exercise. Since my surgery I have gotten rid of High Blood Pressure, Type II Diabetes, Sleep Apnea just to name a few. I no longer take any medications. Just vitamins.  I feel twenty years younger.
When you have this surgery I sure hope you have all of the same great results.
