Scared to eat??
Good Morning everyone, I had my six week post -op app'ts yesterday and everything is going well. I have lost 34lbs (I haven't figured out how you guys do those weight loss charts). My new food selections include just about everything! I'm very nervous to try different foods! I haven't been sick yet and don't want to be! I know I have to try just a little bit of something and see how it goes. Wish me luck and have a great weekend!!!
Yep, I remember that stage very well... It's a tough time - this is when the real learning curve comes into play. Once you progress to solid food it's like you are an infant trying to eat steak for the first time.
Just take it very slow. Try one thing at a time. Chew like crazy. Remember... pencil eraser sized bites... and chew, chew, chew and when you think you're done chewing, chew a little bit more.
I had to learn the hard way what "chew, chew, chew" really meant. Breaking that "chew, swallow, inhale" pattern from my first 38 years of life was difficult. But once you figure out how to do it, life gets much easier.
Also remember that the longer you wait to get your body used to solid dense protein, the harder it becomes. People who stay on soft foods too long end up having a hard time for the rest of their lives with solid foods.
Good luck! You'll do great!

Everybody is different. It's like having a baby - you get a bunch of advice and stories but only a little of it actually helps.
You have to do the eating experiment on your own.
I found my limits over the first two years.
I still make mistakes. I wish I were a know it all and had the answer for you in list form for you but I don't.
Jon and I figure that everyone should dump at least once to see what it is like and what to do.
The good news it you will make a mistake and you will learn from it.
My deal is chicken. It will mess me up just about every time.
