Not sure how many of you remember me but I had my surgery in Novemeber of 2006 at Hurely in Flint... I have lost just over 100 pounds... I had lost more, but have had some struggles and gianed back a bit, but I am back on track and going down again.....  wooooo Hooo... I have new pictures on my profile so check them out.....

anyway... I had to let you all know that I just got back about a week ago from Louisiana....

I am now a GRANDMA!!!!!!!!   Evan Willam was born on 7/25/08... He is absolutely beautiful and there is no greater feeling that holding your grandchild......  It was son icrecible to be able to be there and I have my mom to thank for that.... I am only 37 years old and I am a Grandmother...... I am still trying to grasp the whole concept.....

On another note I would like you all to keep my son in your prayers as he is shipping out to Iraq on September the 2nd....  He is in Louisiana right now in the Army, and only has a few weeks left with his newborn baby and newley wed wife.... My heart is breaking over it.....  My DIL and grandson will be moving back to Michigan in the next month, but it is bittersweet, since my son weill be overseas....

I don't ask for much from this board, I read every day, don't post much, but please please pray for my son's safe return from Iraq..... I thank you for all you have said, done and all the advise I get here.... I am so grateful to this board.....

Well, as you can tell I am starting to get "emotional" yet again...  So I will say goodnight....

Hope everyone has a great week!!!!!!!!

Shawn,
What an emotional roller coaster!  I remember well, the feelings I had as my husband was deployed to Iraq after a month of marriage, during the first Gulf War.  I can't imagine having to go through all of that with a new baby.  I will certainly keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.  Congrats.  Be proud!  Tina

Thanks so much Tina... It really means a lot to me and to my son and his new family!!!

I just found out yesterday of his dates and I have been crying my eyes out since then..... I don't want him to go, but I knew it was coming..... It is bittersweet having my grandson come home while he is being shipped out, but at least I will have a bit of him here in Michigan.....

Thanks again.....

Shawn,
First off Congrats on being a Grandma. Its the best feeling in the world as I have a grandson too and he will be 5 in Nov and in Kindergaren. Wow the time flies.
I hear you on the regain also as I am working to take some back off myself. We can do it.
I will keep your Son and your family in my prayers for him. I have family members in the service also and also worry.
Have a good week your self.

Thank you so much !!!!!  My youngest child start Kindergarten this fall too.... Hard to believe he is an Uncle now too... LOL

I am sure I can take off what I have gained... my problem is that I love to bake and cook for people when they come over and I have had a lot of guests lately... Plus the 2 weeks were in Louisiana I as kind of at the mercy of what my mom made for us all to eat... I didn't have the money to run out and go get food, plus we spend 3 days at the hospitla when my DIL had the baby, so I was eating their cafeteria food (better than fast food, but still not the greatest for the way I should be eating).... But my biggest weakness is the grazing that I do... I am getting better, but I still do it.....

I weighed in today and I have dropped 4 pounds in the past week.... woooo hoooo.....  I know I am on the right track now.....

Thanks again for your support...

Shawn,
I think little Evan is lucky to have such a young grandma!  You'll be able to run around after him and be the coolest grannie on the block.

Prayers for your whole family.....like Tina, I had a hubby in Iraq long ago, so I know how hard it is.  Your family seems so strong, and lucky to have each other for support.

Don't worry about the weight loss....you can start pushing that baby stroller now for exercise

Thanks so much for the support and encouragement Brenda!!!!

Being a young grandma is going to be pretty cool, especially since I have lost all that weight.. I will be able to be an active part in Evan's life... It sure was an amazing feeling to hold him for the first time though... I am so glad I was able to be down there when my DIL had him... I was actually supposed to be in the delivery room, but she ended up with a c-section so that ended that one real fast.... I was just glad that they are both healthy and doing well....

Well, Thanks again... I am so glad I can come here and share things with everyone....

Thanks so much Kajun!!!!  Yes, my son is in Ft. Polk... I could not get over how hot it was while we were down there.... OMG... I Think it was over 100 every day... and the humidity.... I don't know how those young men and women go out and do their PT in that heat.... I didn't even want to take my kiddos out to play.... LOL.... I never thought I would look forward to the cool of 85 degrees here in Michigan... LOL....

I am soooo very proud of my son for doing all he is doing for our country, I just wish I could have him here in Michigan if you know what I mean.... Thanks again... your thoughts and support mean a lot to me....

I will be sure to keep your family in my thoughts and prayers....I know what you mean about the heat and people here complain when it gets hot for a day or 2...try it for a minimum 65 days a summer....and the mosquitos...thats the La. state bird....

Keep in touch.....let me know how things are and  once your son gets his address there please let me know, I'd like to drop him a note too.......
