I am on full fluids until Saturday and I can't stomach a single protein shake...they are making me gag.  Any suggestions to get me through?  I am looking for high protein soup and I have SF FF pudding that I have added the protein powder to.....the pudding is the only thing I actually enjoy that has any protein in it. GGGRRRRRRRR

Baby food has never looked so good!  BUT I noticed most only have 3 g of protein anyway...how am I going to make my way to 70 eating that???

I am sort of at my wits end today....I hope you can help!

Ok Jen, everyone thinks I'm crazy, but here is my solution:

First off, I use AnyWhey unflavored powder.  I put like 2 1/2 teaspoons of Dannon Lite & Fit smoothie or yogurt in a dixie cup.  Put a scoop of powder on top.  Drizzle a little skim milk on top.  Stir that sucker like crazy until the lumps are gone.  I drink it in 2 big gulps, but you may want to do 4 little ones.  Then, your protein is done for a while.  Do this as many times as needed until you get your protein in for the day.  (It will depend on how much your powder has in it.  I did 3 a day).  It only takes like 5 minutes and then you can go on with your day and eating and drinking yummy stuff like popcicles and pudding.  I started doing this 1 week post op when it seemed like I was constantly drinking those disgusting chalky protein shakes.  I look at my protein like "medicine" or my vitamins.  I don't really enjoy them, but I know I need to take 'em so I get it out of the way and move on to other things.

Experiment with different things and you will get through these last few days.  Try mixing the protein with pudding and freezing it for a change.  You also might want to try some of the fruit flavored juice-type protein drinks like Isopure.  Good Luck!!

I started out with the any whey just in Milk.  It is almost tasteless.  I think it has a slight taste, but isn't chalky.  Walmart has sf choc drink mix that I add to it also some times.  With the milk, you get 25 grams of protien in 8 ounces

I had to try about 4 dozen different protein powder flavors / brands before I found a few that I liked enough to buy a whole jar of.  This is a HUGE game of experimentation and you just need to keep trying until you find something that works.  And while you're experimenting, at least you're getting your protein in.

I have a list of online and local resources posted on my OH Profile for obtaining samples of protein powders.  I started with the 21-flavor pack from www.enjoyhealth.com.  I found one flavor from those 21 that worked.  Eventually I found a couple more after ordering more samples from other places.

Good luck
Pam

Oh, Jen ~ I am so with you.  I am on them until Tuesday and I can't wait. I cannot stand the taste or smell anymore.  I did real well with all of them before surgery, but post-op everything has a really funny taste and smell.  I am choking down some pudding right now.  the only thing that is easy for me to get down is the gelatin.  My surgeon's office has you purchase everything you need before the surgery and I have all kinds of this stuff I have to use up, so I am just plugging along and counting the days.

I have not eaten anything else but my 4 protein servings per day.  I am having a hard time getting those in plus my water.

Good luck to you and know that you are in good company!
