sigh... one month lost

Got a call from PCP's office this am.  Doc got "updated" info from insurance (how much more updated could it be - what they sent me was from june!!).  They require documentation of not just MD oversight weight loss plan, but also behavior modifaction, calorie stuff, blah, blah, blah.  Doc said that they couldn't really provde all that info and suggested instead that I join Weigh****chers, as that's a specified "plan' that insurance can use.

I hate weigh****chers (well, not really, but I've done it forever and it doesn't work, and I don't want to do it again...   yup - read this with a really whiney tone.).

So, the last month doesn't count toward my "6 months", so I'm a month and a week behind where i thought I was.  At least they didn't wait for me to come into my next appt (end of Aug), but still, I'm disappointed.

Going to hit the "walk in" hours at the local WW.  blech.

Lara, hang in there, I can really sympathize with you, I've been trying for wls for 3 years and I always get the same excuses, insurance doesnt cover it, no diet history or  the wrong kind, it will happen eventually we just need to believe that no matter what we can win the battle and eventually not have to struggle to be healthy or normal. I have all my pre testing done and am waiting for my info to be sent to priority health ther're tough.  I dont post much but what you wrote this morning sounded so familiar that I thought  I would tell you to hang in there.  Take care and good luck.

I must have joined WW about a million times. for some reason I saved all my Weight Loss Records from them, so I was able to copy them and show that I had stayed on that program for almost a year and had lost 50 pounds. Of course I had regained all of that plus some.   If you have your old books, give that a try.  There might be a way to get your old records from WW, but I think they might get tossed after you have been gone for a while.  Good luck!

Hi Judy-
I thought about that, but it's been well beyond 10 yrs since I gave up on WW.  Once I was diagnosed with PCOS, the low/no carb was the only diet that "made sense" to me.  WW always made me feel deprived and sorry for myself (1/2 cup of pasta is not a good thing) - was much easier to give up the carbs cold turkey and eat a pound of ground hamburg with sour cream - ha!

But, I'll do what they make me do (I guess)...

sorry to butt in here but I just wanted to give this address:
http://www.hungry-girl.com/
it lists the WW points for tons of stuff.  I don't do WW but my mom does and she gets sick of eating the same thing over and over.

3 years???  I'm in awe of you - don't know how you can stand it.  I guess the days still go by though.  I'll be thinking of you as I register for WW for the umpteenth time - maybe I can bribe the lady behind the counter...  ha!

Good luck to you too and thanks for posting!

You'll be fine. It's a drag and a set back but it's not a denial. Keep focused, jump through the hoops and it will happen in no time.

lara,

I had to do ww again for the millionith time to qualify.  I also had to see my PCP monthly to weigh in at his office, update him on my progress.  Of course my heart was not in it.  I lost 7 lbs in 6 month.  but it's what I had to do.  I hated every day of it.  I had my eye on the bigger picture.  Good luck.  I hope it goes fast for you.
