MMPC'ers(or anyone)-post-op 2 wk product/supplement help

I'm trying to get my product order filled out because I have my 1 wk pre-op this friday. I have a couple of questions. Did you have a preference to hot or cold after surgery? Did you stick w/only these "products"  the entire 2 weeks(honesty is appreciated, feel free to pm me if you'd like)? I've seen a lot of people that eat real chicken broth & egg drop soup(some strain it, some don't)-what do you think about that?? In all honesty, the only 1 pt things I like as a pre-op(& I have tried everything except the mocha drink) are the vanilla drinks(my fave), chocolate drinks(ok-not much of a choc. drink kinda gal), crm of chicken soup,  & chicken noodle soup(tolerable), so I'm having a really hard time trying to figure out what I'm going to order. Am I going to be ok just ordering vanilla ready mades, cream of chicken, & chicken noodle? BTW, I'm having the DS. Thanks so much! Lisa

Hi Lisa- Gosh everyone is so different. And what you liked Pre-op can change post-op.
I liked the ready to drink shakes, chicken broth and jello's. Unfortunately that was about it.   Good Luck with your upcoming surgery. I really like Dr. Foote. Take care- Jenny

I liked the fruit flavored drinks, chicken soups, puddings,
and jello. I did ask if I could add LF/LS chicken broth to
the soups instead of water and the dietician okayed it.
I stuck strictly to their products for the whole two weeks...
don't worry it will go fast, then you're on to soft regular foods. Don't cheat if you can help it....remember this is
a new way of eating and will be for the rest of your life.
Make a committment to do your very best and you will come out a winner......i.e. "Loser"!!

OH-I have the fruity drinks too & actually do like them ok. I did figure it out & from the day that I get out of the hosp(as long as there are no complications, of course****il my 2 week post-op is only 8 or 9 days. Hopefully they'll clear me for soft foods. I know I can do it-it'll probably be easier AFTER surgery than before, right? Thanks Pat!

Yes, we are different!! I thought the chicken broth tasted like Pledge & the jello-yuk! You didn't have much variety at all-how did you survive it???  I really like Dr Foote too! I also met Matt at my pre-op & am seeing him for 1 week check this fri.-he's hilarious! I really liked him too!

I second what Jenny said. I'd get some variety of things since post-op things may sit or taste different. Warm felt better just after surgery and now both are fine. I liked the hot cocoa over the cappuccino though. I didn't drink much of the fruit drinks prior to surgery, but did afterward. The puddings I made into drinks most of the time too. I really liked the ready-to-drink too.

The NUTs will say no eggs until you are 4 weeks out.  Eggs seem harmless, but many have issues with them.  I do.  They sit very heavy.  I think they just want you to be easy on your tummy until it is healed a bit.

Jodie R (who hasn't been on in a while - she just moved) had her DS with Dr Kemmeter (I think).  She loves it.  I'm a sleevester, so I am half a DSer!

Good luck to you!

Thanks Gwen! I wondered about the eggs too. I was surprised when I had read a post about egg drop soup & some of them said they ate the eggs & all. I don't think I'd be that brave.

I wondered where Jodie had disappeared to! I forgot that they bought a new house, right! 1 of these days, we need to do another get-together so I can meet all of you guys. Maybe after school starts or an evening or something!

I thought I felt my ears burning!

You shouldn't follow my advice. I was eating chicken wings at a week out. I couldn't stand the liquid anymore. I met some other local DSers for soup at a week out and had some awesome chicken pot pie soup at Zoup also. I figured as long as I wasn't jamming sticks down there, I was fine. Some of my favorite things with the supplements though were the fruit drinks and ready-to-drinks as well. I didn't enjoy most of the rest of it.

As of the 14th, I have lost 50 pounds since the day of surgery at just short of 3 months out. The DS is definitely my friend. You will love it!

Matt was in my surgery with me.. he is my favorite PA. He is almost always the one I talk to if I have to call after hours.

Good luck.. your surgery is going to be here SOON. I went in on Wednesday afternoon and I was home by Friday afternoon. Not bad at all. The nurses are the best too.. so nice.

Thanks Jodie! I am soooo excited! Surprisingly, I never got the 2 week freak & I feel very calm about the whole thing! I've been doing really well on the pre-op diet, I just dread more product afterwards but it won't be too long, right?! Matt is GREAT! LOVE HIM! What a nice guy w/a great sense of humor! He's the only one I've met(he did my 2 wk pre-op & my 1 wk check).

Congratulations on your weight loss so far!!!! That is so amazing, isn't it? I can't believe it's been 3 months since your surgery already!

I'm getting ready to place an order to Vitalady-do you follow her vitamin schedule? If so, how soon after surgery did you start all of the pills? How were your labs? This vitamin thing is very overwhelming to me because I don't have enough knowledge yet.

Have a great weekend!! Lisa

I do follow her vitamin schedule. I don't take the prenatals given by MMPC.. they irritate my stomach terribly. In my opinion, the ADEKs they want us to take don't have nearly enough of the things we need in them. I started with the vitamin A and vitamin D from vitalady and built from that. I recently got the revised plan from someone that she has recently done. I am curious to see what my labs will be like. My vitamin D was low prior to surgery at just 9.. very low.. so I am hoping the 50,000 units per day is doing something to correct that.

I started the vitamins at a week out from surgery. I had to take them 1 at a time or sometimes cut them in half if possible.. but I got them all down over the course of the day. The multivitamins were the toughest.. I ended up going back to chewable ones. I couldn't take the smell, taste, or size of any multi that I found.

I know today is your surgery.. I hope you are home soon and have a smooth recovery!!
