So I picked up my machine on Friday afternoon!!

for those that have used one...

How long did it take you to get up to using it all night long???

I did 2 hours Friday and Saturday and about 4 hours last night. It seemed to take forever to fall asleep last night Then my son ended up in bed with us and then my daughter!!! I was so upset because I had to unhook the baby monitor (my dd is almost 4) and I didnt hear her crying. She ended up coming into our room and was crying. I barely heard her and then having that darn machine on me confused the heck out of me!!!

I really hope after surgery I dont need this darn thing anymore!!

It took me about a 7 to 10 days to get used to it.. but about 2 to 3 weeks before it was old hat.  But when I got off CPAP, it only took me a day or 2 to enjoy it being gone!

Check and see how much RAMP time they put on your c pap, My ramp time is 20 mins...then it should give you time to relax and ramp up to whatever your set for. Once you get used to it...about 15 to 20 mins...I wish I could tell you more but I take Ambin so I fall asleep in 5 mins..lol. Where did you get your c pap? I ordered mine through wright-filippis and they came to the house and set everything for me and make sure your mask fits well, the upgraded models should be quiet..you might want yours checked. I have been using my c pap for almost 7 years ...I am down -225 lbs and still have to sleep with it. good luck...takes time but you will get used to it...email me if you have anymore questions....I hope this makes sense..

They have the ramp time set to 15 minutes. It honestly takes me longer to fall asleep with it on then when I am not wearing it. I only did about 3 hours last night.

I got it from Spectrum and I went there to get fitted for it. I did try on a number of different masks and I went with the full face mask because I sleep with my mouth open.

I feel like it is slipping off the top of my head and then pulling up at my mouth. I dont know if I have the top too tight or what is going on....

i have been on my CPAP since January - I used the ramp for maybe 4 days. now I turn it right on and I have no problems falling asleep with it. Did you tell them you were having problems?
I have the nasal pillow mask and i love it except the head gear doesn't stay in place and some nights i think i spend more time fighting with it then sleeping. I am hoping to get a new mask next week. I would definately be asking my provider some questions.

I did call the dme provider and they would like me to come back in for a review of the mask.

It feels like it is sliding up on my face while I am sleeping. I dont know if I have it adjusting incorrectly or what is going on. Hopefully they can figure something else out!

I had no real issues with it - probably since I didn't have any issues sleeping as it was. I never would have thought I had sleep apena.  I did have to change masks a couple of weeks in because it kept leaking into my mouth and eyes.  Then I'd find it on the floor in the morning.

It is noisy enough for me not to hear the monitors either.  I will do wear it as long as I think I can get a full night sleep.  My girls have been getting up in the middle of the night so I am not wearing it as faithfully as I should.  I will start the night and sometimes only get an hour in before I am back up.  They are twin 9 mo old in the same room.  I have to be able to hear the first peep or I'll be trying to get both of them back to sleep.  That just doesn't sound like fun.

Hi, I have used a C pap for about seven years. I still use the ramp setting everynight (mines 20 mins.) and sometimes I have to hit it a second time before a can fall asleep. I have used it so long that it's just normal for me. I know people who quit using them before they  gave it a fair chance. Hang in there and don't quit using it without talking to your doctor about all your options. They can make adjustment for you. Good Luck!
