TOTALLY OT for Janet Evanovich fans

I was having an in-depth conversation last night with one of my friends.    We were discussing the Stephanie Plum series of books by Janet Evanovich.    Now, our very serious conversation turned to a discussion of these books becoming a movie.  Our most burning question from the conversation became "WHO would be cast as Ranger and Morelli?"  I know.  Very deep.  We pondered the possibilities, but none quite fit the bill.  So, if you are a fan of the books (I've read all 14 and a few others, in the last 6 months...LOL), who would be your casting choices?  I know it's very serious, so take your time and ponder the possibilities.

Ooo... great question!  I'll have to ponder that one for a bit.   But another question would be -- who plays Stephanie? I love this series and need to get through the current 2 books I'm reading so I can read #14.

My friend and I thought Sandra Bullock.  She also suggested Marisa Tormei.  Sandra Bullock's character from Ms. Congeniality is along the right lines, so I think she'd be good.  There are the obvious male actors for the Ranger and Morelli parts.  We were just curious what others may think!

Ok, so I've been checking the internet for ideas on actors.  I found a great thread that lists a ton of people's ideas.  Here's my picks: Stephanie -- Sandra Bullock Ranger - The Rock Morelli - Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Denny from Grey's Anatomy) Grandma  - Ellen Albetini Dow  Lulu - Queen Latifa Here's the discussion thread I mentioned above. Ok... now I want this movie thing to happen so I can go watch it! Pam

Even though he's never read the books, my husband suggested The Rock and after he said it, I thought.....Yes, that would work! I thought of Mark Wahlberg for Morelli (or Ranger...really).  Wasn't sure if he could pull off the comical aspect, tho.  But he's definitely a hottie.  It's funny that there are websites out there devoted to this discussion.  Don't you think there HAS to be some talk of a movie or something?  I'm thinking it could even be a tv series.

It sounds like -- from what I've been reading -- that there's movie talks in the works.  Apparently Reese Witherspoon has bought the rights to the movie.  Hopefully she doesn't plan to play the lead (she's just not right for Stephanie, I think) -- so maybe she's planning to produce.  Who knows.

Interesting.  Smart move on Ms. Witherspoon's part.  I think the books could easily be movies and done correctly with the right actors, could have wide appeal.  I don't think her as Stephanie would work, either.  Just as long as someone doesn't try to put Angelina Jolie in it.

Ok, just came across this suggestion for Tank.   Tank - Michael Clarke Duncan Not sure about Wahlberg.  I don't really like him much as an actor so wouldn't want him to play someone I plan to have fantasies about.  LOL!

That's a good suggestion for Tank.  Hadn't thought of him.  Queen Latifah is a great suggestion for Lulu...wonder if she'd offended by that?  LOL!  I like Wahlberg, but have only seen him in serious action movies so not sure if he is the best fit.  There's always Brad Pitt, Matt Damon or George Clooney.  I could see Clooney as Morelli.

I'm also a fan of Stephanie Plum.   What do think of Marisa Tomei as Stephanie?  How about Andy Garcia as Morelli.  Love that man.
