I'm going for my 6 week checkup on Thusday, and I just don't think I'm progressing as well as I should be with foods.    Had Lap RN-Y 5/28.  My pouch is so unpredictable. I do shakes, jello, soup o.k.-    But when I venture out it'**** and miss. One day I was able to eat egg salad- the next time no way.    Oatmeal still hits like a rock. is this normal?    Could my pouch just be inflammed  or still swollen?  Thanks                   Jenny R.

That is normal when you are new post op if you had a stricture you would be throwing up all your foods and not keeping anything down.  Yes your pouch is still healing and your body is getting used to the new procedure.  Tricia

I had surgery the same day as you and I was having problems last week keeping meds and liquids down.  The doctor said it's normal for things to swell again between week 4 and 6.  After about 5 days, I'm getting a lot more in.  I still can't do things with much texture. Light cheese seems to go down great for me.  I also realized, I was drinking too close to eating and would hit that overfull spot and vomit.  I have to wait at least an hour now.  Be patient.  I've decided to just take it slower.

Jenny, this sounds exactly like what we all go through at first.  As a matter of fact, at 20+ months out, I still have issues one day with something and can eat it fine the next.  It's part of the trade off for having rearranged our insides. I haven't forgotten about the protein mix.  Things have been so crazy that I've not been able to get it out.  I apologize.  Hopefully, things will slow down soon. Jenn

Hey Jenn- Thanks for the encouraging words. Dr. Foote didn't seem too alarmed. As a matter of fact he said he'd be more worried if i was not having this type of issue.  I guess i'm "normal."

Yeah-  I'm still interested in the protein sample.  Why don't you just bring it to the next support group meeting?  I plan on bringing a cannister of strawberry flavored Unjury. Took one scoop out of it.....  now can't stand it. Maybe someone will want it.  It's funny how it didn't seem too bad right after surgery  when I was in the hospital..................... of course I was under the influence of my pain control pump.       See ya-  Jenny R.
