Slow losers - did you find anything that helped?
I posted this on the VSG board too. I am wondering if it took anyone else longer to get a good routine down to achieve better weight loss?
I am losing a lot slower than others who had surgery around my date. I talked to the NUT and she increased my protein and calories. I was only getting about 400 calories in and she bumped it up to 700 and also increased my protein from 60g to 70. That seemed to help a little, but I keep stalling. I am trying to get in 100 oz of water a day to see if that helps.
Did anyone have a problem like this and did you find anything that helped?
TIA
To keep my weight loss steady, I have to have a minimum of 100 grams of protein. Any less and I stopped losing or now, gain a couple of pounds. Also, vary the amount of calories you're taking in. Getting the same amount everyday lets your body hold on to whatever it gets. If you go higher one day and then lower another, your body doesn't know and it'll start burning like it's going to get more than enough calories.

Gwen,
I have followed your case from the beginning, and in some aspects, you remind me of myself.
I think there are some of us out there that are destined to lose at a slower pace. Now, that doesent man that we can go make a run to Dairy Queen and it eon't make a difference, I just think that some of us, lost a lot with the pre-op and are body gets in a "set-point" where we are not really far away from our goal(although we can think it is a long way) and it takes longer than we think it should, You are doing wha you should do.. Including breakfast(not skipping meals IS an important element). Please don
t get discouraged- it is so easy to think that this is another failed attempt. Talk to them, they will make suggestions that will work,
I have a procedure on Friday at MMPC- if you are available, I woudl love to talk to you, a pat on the back, because you have been so diligient in doing and following the prescribed plan. This is when it needs a little "tweeking" to work with your system.
Don't give up.. It will work for you. How quickly should not be a concern( I know you want it to be) but we all strive for better health and permanent results- that is what we are ultimatley aiming for.
((hugs for support)) I understand..

Hi Amy!!
Thanks for the info (sorry I didn't reply earlier. We were on our way out the door.) I would really love to meet up with you on Friday. Is it in the morning or afternoon? DH went on 1st shift almost 2 weeks ago so my day-time outings have been cut. He gets home 4:30-5:00 so I could be in GR around 5 or 5:30. I'd really love to meet up with you. If it is morning...I already have baby sitters for 2 days this week because of appointments (I am in GR on Tues.) I don't know if I could get her to watch them 3 days (my niece). I'd bring the kids, but as I found out at the coffee meeting, most of my time would be devoted to them.
Let me know when and I'll work on it!
Gwen
Thanks ladies!! I know that any progress is a good thing. I can't help but feeling like I am missing something though. I am being really good with what I am consuming. No junk. Eating breakfast & the whole nine yards.
I am thinking different things work better for different people who may not be the norm - like 100 oz of water min instead of 64. More protein. More calories. Something. I was up 1/2 lb yesterday from the day before, but am down 1 lb from yesterday this morning. I have been charting my weight on my profile each day. I am thinking that there will be some pattern. Like I go up a half lb or so before I lose or something.
I am also keeping detailed logs (in the MMPC food and exercise book) of everything I consume. I struggle greatly getting those calories in and some days water. I will stay up until I get my water in though.
Thanks again!
Gwen
The best thing to do is NOT TO COMPARE YOURSELF with others. They might be younger, have a higher metabolism, have more to lose, etc.
You lost a substantial amount of weight before surgery, thus you lost your "water weight" already. Those that lost only a handful of pounds before their surgery will have bigger numbers for this reason. I lost 30 lbs before surgery and I'm pretty darn close to you in all areas. Please check out my webpage for my weekly breakdown of the weight loss. Email me anytime too. I was a "slow loser" too but I did just fine. Slow and steady wins the race.
Keep doing what you are doing with focusing on the protein and water, exercising doing what you can and eating healthy. You'll get there.
I was pretty close to you in my stats.

I am right there with ya. I went to the NUT last week she wants me to eat a protien and a good carb for lunch and dinner. Like for lunch I had 2oz chick and some asparagus. For dinner chick and green beans. Plus I was not getting near the cals she wanted me to. I should get up to 700 and I was way below that. She did say that she doesnt want me to focus on cals thought. For more calcium she wanted me to eat yogurt for breakfast. Its Kroger brand Carb Master 80cals 15gr protien, it is good. I baught some cashew butter and all grain bread/crackers the crackers are like 10 cals each and real low carbs, I can only eat one. I think it is helping. I am just a slow looser, I have PCOS not sure that really has anything to do with it or not or if I will just be slow.
Good luck to you!
Gwen,
You may be falling into the routine your body will follow while losing weight. For me, I would lose for 3 weeks and then, on the 4th week, nothing. Now, things are working the opposite. I don't lose anything for 3 weeks and then on the 4th week, I will lose.
You sound like you are doing everything you are supposed to. Your body will tell you what the plan is, you just have to listen
You are doing awesomely!
Jenn
