Blue Care Network Requirements ?????
Hello, can someone that has blue care network insurance through Fords please tell me what the insurance company is expecting to get approval exactly? They always make it sound so grey when you call them instead of black and white. I am so frustrated, I'm at 280 lbs and don't want to get any larger. I am depressed all the time and I look pregnant !!! Please help me !! Thanks, Shari

The only way to find out for sure is to call the number on the back of your insurance card. Ask if bariatric surgery is covered (don't call it weight loss surgery) -- or better yes, call your surgeon and ask for a procedure code and use that number when asking for coverage information. Then once they tell you yes, ask them to send the criteria to you IN WRITING. Then once you get that letter or list in the mail, use that as your checklist to go through the process. (It can take a few weeks to receive it.)
If your insurance company isn't willing to sent that letter to you, talk to your employer and let them know you need help in understanding your coverage. The HR department is there to help you, use them.
Even if someone else has Blue Care Network, unless they have the exact same plan, exact same employer as you do (sometimes even people who work in the same place have the choice with different plans, so that's not even a good measure of acccuracy). Each employer can negotiate with the insurance company and create their own unique plan to offer employees. My job has 5 different plans for employees to choose from ... so my co-worker might not be covered, but I was. That's why its so important to call and get the specific information based on your BCN account number exactly.
Good luck
