Letter of Intent

I feel like a lost child....  When I have to write my letter of intent to the dr, I feel like I just can't get it to sound perfect.  Is there a magical wand someone can throw me?  Please?   I know its "just a letter" but its not.  Its the whole thing wrapped up in paper.  I can't show my happiness or tears, worries or fears.  Its just paper.  I am a good writer and that isn't the problem, its this....How can I make it clear and precise without looking to "needy" (as in I really need this surgery?).  Or make it look like everyone elses that they submit?  How can I make it look like I am not just telling them what they want to hear, when the answers are clearly going to be like everyone elses?  Its just hard to get it out, I have done a lot of soul searching in this whole thing.  I got the packet almost a month ago and still cannot get it to be just right....  Anyhow.... I get to the who I am, its the why I want the surgery and the expectations of the surgery that I get flustered on....  Any insight...

How about using some of the thoughts that you just shared with us. They were honest and heartfelt. I think it is okay to admit that you don't know exactly what to say. Just a thought... Dawn Warren, MI

 Sounds like you are making a big deal out of nothing . Just be yourself and you will do fine. I know you and you can do it . and make it sound like a pro filled it out...Good luck and keep me posted when your done..

thanks, It does seem like a big deal but when it comes down to it, having this a part of my medical file is a big deal to me... but I will write it out and let ya know... maybe I'll fini**** this weekend...  Thanks again...

Hi Christina, Who are you going through? I went through Henry Ford, With Dr. Carlin. I also had to write a letter of intent. It is very important and not to be taken lightly. I went to your profile and copied and pasted part of it below for you to read. This will be a good start. You should add any diets. you have tried over the years, your understanding of how the surgery works, be sure to comment on how you know it is just a tool, and not a magic wand that is going to be a cure all. Include how you plan to get ready for the post op diet. include an exercise plan. tell how you will limit your sugar and fat intake and read nutrition labels, weigh and measure all of your foods, count calories etc, Best wishes to you. I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, Petella femoral syndrome in my knees (my kneecaps don't sit properly so its painful to walk), and I have really bad back pain and joint pain.
