HUBBY IS ON THE TRANSPLANT LIST!
Hello Michigan Bari Buds,
Some of you are aware that my DH Steve has been very ill and is in need of a liver transplant.
Finally, he has been accepted at the U of MI to be placed on the Liver Transplant Registry as soon as we complete our Family Meeting which is coming up in the next week or so. We are so thankful and our prayer is that he will receive a liver. At this point it is his only hope for survival. He has already surpassed the drs. prognosis for survival by two years, and we are grateful and blessed to have had that "extra" time together. Unfortunately, he is now very ill and weak and spends most of his days sleeping.
The down side to this is that for him to get a new liver, someone else will die, and then their family will be placed in such a sad situation and have to make the decision to donate at such a devastating time. I wi**** didn't have to happen this way, but I am thankful that there are folks *****alize the importance of organ donation.
Will you all please join me in prayer and warm thoughts for the donors precious loved ones whomever they may turn out to be, that they will be comforted as they need it, and also for us to have courage and hope as we begin down this new road in our long journey? We know that the odds are not in our favor but all I ask is that God simply prepare our hearts for whatever lies ahead.
Thank you all so much. I don't post too much but, but do check the board often. Please know that all of you have come to be an extension of my family.
All the Best to Each of You,
Pam
my brother had a bone marrow transplant at u of m (not the same situation, i know) and the docs were top notch... your hubby is no doubt in good hands... and hopefully, when your husband receives a liver, his donor's family will take comfort in the fact that in the face of their loss, something wonderful was able to happen... little solace in the moment, but imagine the pride in being able to boast that someone you love saved someone else's life...
Pam,
I am so happy that your husband is getting on the transplant list.(although we all wish that is wasn't necessary in the first place, but it is a blessing that that is an option). You have certainly been on my mind and in my prayers for your husband, your friend and your self... I hope that the wait for a liver is short- Organ donation is such an honorable thing to do but I understand it is a hard decision for people to make.. That is why we all should put it on our licenses if we want to be an organ donor, so no one else has to make the decision for us.. I will continue to pray for you and yours.
Miss talking to you on the Journey's site.. No one really hangs out there anymore..
