I've got a date...
I should be super happy right? Well it's not until July 14th!! 10 more weeks of waiting. I'm trying to look at the bright side and trying to turn this wait into a positive thing. I figure if I have a 10 week wait, then that says something good about my surgeon, most importantly that he must be so well liked that he's got so many patients.
But 10 weeks seems like such a long time. Plus, that's 10 more weeks of just about everyone trying to talk me out of it. I get beat up so much over my decision, I just want to have it done already so everyone will stop it.
Oh gosh...I'll stop complaining now...
I can imagine it seems like a long time, but whoo hoo......you have it to look forward to! I am waiting on my letter, the Dr told me to expect it this week....I have bcbs so do not need pre approval, just a letter from their insurance department to make sure we covered all basis!

You know what? I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but, use this time to get yourself in the best shape you can be prior to your surgery date. Start some type of beginning exercise routine. Start cutting calories and the amount you eat. Don't sit back and wait for a "magic Bullet". This surgery takes a complete participation from the recipient as well as the surgeon who completes it. I understand your being anxious and wanting to get started.. Take the initial step and do your part. Make a step and start your part. It will make the next step easier for you. The initial weight loss does seem to come easy, but when you get to the part when the initial
"honeymoon" phase starts to not be as easy, you have a plan all ready in place to make it work..
Do you part. Show you are willing to be an active participant in this procedure. I wish you all the best.. God Bless.

I agree! I started Curves a month ago and I feel SO much better (I have been slack the last week because of non-WLS things...dh on strike, ds having health issues). As of today - according to them - I have lost 5 lbs (4 of which were fat) and 8 inches. She told me before measuring me though that it was common to see a gain the first month, so I probably could have lost more. Anyway, I want to make this as much of a success as I can - the weight loss and the surgery itself. I also had been really good at counting calories, fat, carbs & protein and lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks while doing that. I fell off the wagon partially due to my discouragement and partially due to DH being home. (Neither of which are good excuses). I know I do A TON better writing EVERYTHING that passes my lips in my journal. I am also a math weirdo and love figuring out every little gram. :D Since being off the wagon I still make it a point to consciously think about what I am eating....just not writing it down. I know I can't keep doing just that though - it is self-sabotage.
Well I think 10 weeks is great. I hope that mine comes that quickly. I just went for my first appointment yesterday. I have all my evaluations scheduled for next week, and I would be delighted to have a date for 10 weeks away. Rejoice and prepare yourself. Get everything in order so that it will be easier during recovery. Good luck!!
Thanks everyone for your advice! I am grateful because I know some folks wait months and months, and sometimes years. I guess I was comparing myself to 2 of my friends that had this same surgeon that were scheduled in 6 weeks. It was just a little disappointing, but now that I've had 24 hours to think of it, I'm pretty darn lucky. I have started a walking schedule, and my hubby bought me a new bike for my birthday so I'll start on that too. Getting my water in will be a struggle, but I can do it! Thanks again!
