Anyone have surgery recently and have BCBS GM?

My surgery was postponed due to my surgeon's office needing prior approval.  I know that BCBS GM had some different requirements.  Did anyone else need the prior approval (who has had surgery this year)?  And if so, how long did it take to get it? TIA

Hi there I have BCBS GM insurance and I had my surgery May 1st 2007 I DID NOT have prior approval for my surgery..The Staff knew what had to be in my chart for my insurance. The day I walked into my surgeon's office I had my surgery two months later ( I've could of done it sooner but I had a few things I needed to get done at work first)  About a month later I got a copy of my bill paid in full....

Thank you for replying.  I think you are right.  While I wish that the lady who called me to cancel was mistaken and no time will be lost (and I can get into another pre-op appt soon), part of me hopes that they are completely right and made a fantastic save (from ME receiving the bill) and are doing a great job.....just for the peace of mind of going ahead as planned.  Sadly though, no matter which way this turns out, I am going to have to rethink this. Thanks again!

I had surgery, last December. I had BCBS and had to get prior approval.  It didn't take long though, 2-3 weeks.
