Got my blood lab results today...
The paper says I'm normal!! I have proof now!! And you all think I'm
.
I am h-pylori negative and my cholesterol is 162 (HDL 45, LDL 95 & Triglycerides 111). I called on Monday to find out what these results were and what is next. So I got paper with my results in the mail today (dated 4/1). Hmmm. Then Tuesday I saw that I could call the surgery coordinator for info. I left a message asking what is next. Still nothing. I guess I will be the squeaky wheel and call again tomorrow!

The thing is, Carole, they haven't told me anything about what would happen if I had sleep apnea or anything. I just want to know what I have yet to come and if I can do any of it prior to my month follow-up. They just left me hanging - not sure if who though. Neither MMPC or the sleep dr's office said anything to me about what would happen after getting a CPAP machine.
I am also going to call the sleep dr to see if I can see her before then or get some answers over the phone. have been wearing it faithfully with the exception of one night when I took it off after 2 or 3 hrs because it was irritating my nose. Since being on it, I am tired during the day and I have had a few headaches. I very rarely have a headache - and I don't know if I have ever had more than one in one week's time. I am not sure if they are CPAP related or not, but that is the only thing I can figure. I don't want to wait a month and then have them say that they need to try something else for another month.
Gwen,
Congrats on being normal!!
I have a C-Pap (1 1/2 years) and it takes a little getting used to. I do find that if the air is dry, I get headaches. Try using a saline spray at night before you go to bed. It helps me. Also, I found that when I first got mine, I slept different and that sometimes adds strain to your neck. I got a new stiffer pillow and now have no problems. Light a fire under that surgeon and SQUEAK SQUEAK!!!

Thanks for the info Bernice. I have a humidifier on my CPAP machine, but haven't been using it (I do keep water in it - just don't turn the heating plate on.) I am getting ready to call the sleep dr (Dr Hausman? - I think.) I talked to Dr Baker's coordinator and she said to call and let the sleep dr know of any issues I am having as to not delay my surgery date.
I got a lot of questions answered. I am technically approved. They will check again before I have surgery, but they just file the paperwork and it is a done deal. There is nothing else I need to do between now and the CPAP follow up appt (when she should write the script for Dr Baker). I also found out that Dr Baker only does surgery on Monday or Tuesdays. Which works out best for DH's work schedule. Most of the Fridays are booked for the rest of the year.
So I guess it is just get thru the next 16 days and then see where I'm at.
Thanks for the heads up on the headaches. I used the heating element last night so hopefully it will help. I also have saline too.
I have a humidifier too, but rarely use it. My doc said that with the dx of sleep apnea, you will have to be closely monitored for your breathing after the surgery, and to bring the c-pap to the hospital. Other than that, there is not much else concerning the c-pap. Hope all goes will for you.
I start my clear liquids tomorrow and I have to do a bowel prep (YUCK) and then Wed is THE DAY.
Yours will be soon and then we can compare notes
Bernice
hey gwen!! have you actually met dr. hausman yet? she is awesome. i love her. she is so funny and down to earth.. and she so GETS the weight loss surgery process and feelings we have. just a really great lady.
don't be afraid to call the preop coordinator either. i called nettie every single day for like a week. i would usually wait until she answered too.. and rarely left a message. they tend to skip em sometimes, i think.
i just had my all-day appt with the nutritionist, PA, and exercise person. long day, but very informative. they actually told us that we do not have to bring our CPAP machine to the hospital with us.. just the mask and headgear and a paper in a ziploc baggie with it with your machine settings. apparently they had an issue where they lost someone's machine and don't want that issue again. all the better for us so we don't have to lug the machine around.
i hope you get things squared away soon.. keep bugging them. haha
