I got my authorization yesterday from Priority Health (my ins) to go to MMPC for the evaluation, etc.  Today I called and made my first four appointments!  I have my history/physical & first psych eval on 4/15.  My first appt with the surgeon (Dr. Foote) and the 2nd psych eval is on 4/28.

Obviously, I am very anxious for all of them!!!  For those of you that have used MMPC, any thoughts on what I should expect at any of the appointments.  I am thinking my husband will go with me to the history/physical and appt with Dr. Foote.  The woman I scheduled my appt’s with said he could go to the psych evals as well, but I don’t know if I want him to go with me to those.  I wouldn’t mind if he was there, but I am not sure if he can get a half day off for the appointments since they are back to back.

Hi Kelly!  I'm using MMPC and am seeing Dr Baker.  Our insurances probably require different things though since I don't know what the evaluation is.  A few days after the orientation I received a call and set up 3 appts - internist, surgeon and behaviorist.  I saw the internist first.  There the nurse got weight, fat, hydration & BMI levels and also did an EKG and took measurements.  Then the Dr Gowel came in and went over history and discussed what I was looking to obtain from having WLS.  She said that she thought I was a candidate for WLS and she wanted one appt w/ the nut and a sleep study.  I saw Scott, the behaviorist, and Dr Baker 2 days later.  Dr Baker's appt was pretty quick.  He went over my history and what type of surgery I wanted.  There is a questionnaire you'll complete before Scott's appt and he'll go over that.  That appt was probably my least favorite only because I have a horrible family and don't like trying to explain it.   The meeting with the dietitian was good.  She answered all of my questions.  I also had my sleep study & second sleep study....and got my CPAP machine.....and that is where I'm at.  Good Luck!  Let us know how everything goes! Hi Kelly, Thats great!  I had Dr. Foote for my surgeon.  He is excellent as is all the staff at MMPC. Best of everything to you.  I'm warming up a seat on the :Losers Bench" for you! Pam

Thank you everyone!!!!   Gwen - your explanation is exactly what I was looking for!  PH requires that you do two psych evals.  I think that is one of the big differences.
