Making good choices....
I joined Curves on Thursday - and did the whole routine right after joining. I was excited to get back, which I did on Sat. I didn't think I'd make it today because I had a dentist appt and DH needed to do some plumbing work. Since it is so dreary out, I knew it would be a bad food day. Thankfully DH is King Procrastinator and he decided his stuff could wait another day...so before giving myself time to talk myself out of it, I jumped in the car.
I feel so good after doing it. From the way the internist talked, she didn't think very highly of Curves, but I feel like I am doing something good. I wi**** was closer so I'd have more opportunities to go. It is around 12 miles each way.
I also had my first NSV!! The windshield is leaking on my van so I took DH's car, and I didn't have to pry, pull and pray to get the seat belt buckled!! And I was wearing sweats! - Not like jeans that help hold things in. I lost the ability to even drive the car early in my pregnancy with my twins because the seat belt wouldn't go around me anymore. I have drove it a couple of times since they were born and I was devastated that it took every thing in my being to buckle up.
Anyway - I was excited and wanted to share!

Pam means when you have to move the seat forward to touch to pedals...... Who knew I had that much junk in my trunk...lol

Woo hoo!!! I'm so proud of you for taking this step that will help you so much after surgery. Building muscle before surgery will help your recovery time and you will find that you have less hanging skin issues because your muscle base is already there.
Congratulations on the NSV!! Those seat belts can be so disheartening, but you beat it!

GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!!! Your internist is full of it. Anything you can do to start to move and groove is going to be beneficial to you. And Curves is a very comfortable place for women. I know people that have paid alot of money for a gym membership and then didn't continue because they were intimidated by what I call the "Grayhounds".
I am so lucky to have a place here called Evergreen Commons that you have to be 50 or older to join and they have a pool, resistence training room, machines, classes, all types of stuff. It too is very comfortable except the "youngsters" do get dirty looks at times from the "oldsters". Especailly if they get splashed during aquasize class
Keep up all you are doing!
Carole

Hey, I heard about the Evergreen Commons from Bernice. She said the same thing about you 'youngsters'. Remember, you need to respect your elders.... LOL!! It sounds like a nice place though and I wish there was something like that around here. The Y has a pool, but it is actually the High School's pool and it isn't exactly warm from what I've heard. Take care! Gwen
