Trouble With Flatulance (TMI)
OK, I'm sure this is a common problem... Or maybe not to the degree that I have the problem. Anyway, ever since I had my RNY I've had some major difficulties with frequently passing gas (and I don't mean burping! LOL). Let's put it this way, once I was riding on the city bus and I had to pass gas (at least it was silent that time!!). It smelled so disgusting that the bus driver opened both doors of the bus to air it out -- while the bus was still in motion!!!! Needless to say, I was mortified.
I've tried Beano, but it doesn't help. What do the rest of you do to deal with this problem? I'm desperate for a solution, because I often avoid social situations and going out for fear of grossing people out.
Please HELP!!!

Sometimes it has to do with the carbs we are consuming. I found that if I eat too many carbs, I have gas also.
There is a remedy here on oh - I can't take beano- I'm allergic to mold and it clearly states "do not take if you are allergic to mold" - as for veggies I make sure they are cooked good. Also, adding a bit of ginger to your veggies and foods will help alleviate the 'air'.
Try taking a supplment called Devrom. it's advertised here on oh.com
best luck

My husband has a horrible problem with gas. He was advised to try Devrom which helped to some degree. Our surgeon suggested he try L-Acidophilus (make sure it is the refrigerated type that you get at the health food store. It has helped. Acidophilus helps to make the bacteria in your gut more normal by killing off extra yeast. Yeast is a common problem in all Americans because of the anti biotics we take and also the anti biotics in our food.
Have you consulted with your doctor? They may have some different suggestions.
Good luck to you and if you find something that works, let us know. I'd love to have a fragrance free home, lol.
