I have my group dietician appt. tomorrow. I was told (I think) that I needed cash or a DEBIT card.  No checks!! Does anyone know if that is correct information?  I want to make sure I can use my debit and I don't need to run to the bank for cash. Thanks,

Laura

I did a cashier's check. It was traceable with my bank and I didn't have to worry about my numbers. But I think you can use your debit card. Call and ask for sure!! Good luck Laura!!

I couldn't use my debit card cause I had a total of $629 to pay and the daily limit is $500!! They also take credit cards.

Hope this helps.

I've written three checks so far and they haven't blinked an eye.  One for $30, one $50 and one for $175.  I assume that is why they want the last payments up front - so checks have time to clear before surgery.

We have to pay what isn't covered by insurance.  The money I've paid so far was: $30 for sample food (because on our 2 week pre-op and post-op diets, we have to have their food and if we don't like something, we can't return it - luckily everything I've tried has been fine), 2-$25 Co-pays, $125 Behaviorist fee, & $50 dietitian fee. I have BCBSM and it will be around $1200 out-of-pocket by the time it is all said and done because of post-op dietitian, behaviorist and exercise visits...all of which are not covered by my ins.

I went to Beaumont and didnt have t o pay a penny out of pocket....luckily my insurance covered it.  Thats a lot of money to shell out, but worth it.

I'm so glad that I didn't have to pay any upfront fees. I'm having my surgery at St. John's Medical Center in Detroit. Thank goodness everything is covered by Priority Health. I have a fully funded HMO. As a new homeowner, money is tight. I'm so grateful that I didn't have to come out of pocket. I know it is worth it, but it would have been like trying to squeeze blood out of a turnip for me at this point. Best wishes to everyone. God Bless! RNY SURGERY DATE IS 4/14/08!!!!

Maybe they recently had a run of bad checks or something, I have always written a check for my co-pays and supplements and no questions asked. Probally varies on who is giving the info and who is at the desk at time of payment.

I used my charge card to pay.  Remember, you won't have to pay any co pays after this payment.  At least my husband and I haven't had to.  It was worth every penny! Jenn
