Hurley's liquid diet preop

I just thought I would post to see if anyone who did the liquid preop for Hurley Bariatric noticed that the food supplements and meal replacements are the same as Medical Weight Loss Clinic, except for the company name on the box is Better MD, and not MWLC.  I was a bit surprised, here I am going to have surgery because of the weight that I could not get off even when I went to Medical Weightloss clinic and spent thousands of dollars over the years with them.  Buying their nutrients and so on.  Any how I was a bit shocked needless to say.   At least I already know what they taste like and that I will be able to do this liquid diet.   Patti

I hope it tastes better than the meal replacements from MMPC.  These are not liquid but a bad immitation of actual foods.  At first it isn't so bad but after eating it a few times it gets pretty hard to choke down.   I am going to use just the liquids.

Good luck with the liquids Patti.  The first 4 days were brutal for me, but then it got a lot easier to deal with.  The soups were horrible and I ended up ditching them and just had strained canned soup or broth instead. I love 15 pounds in that first 2 weeks before surgery.  Pam

Hi Patti,     Yes, Hurley requires this pre op diet! I found it quite tough the first 3-4 days. The shakes were fine; but the soup was so awful I did not eat it instead used just hot broth. They say we need to do this to shrink our fatty livers to make our surgery easier! I lost 10 lbs on it.. Who is your surgeon? Are you aware of the Bariatric ball coming up Apr 5th for pt and their spouses or friend? It is free to pt; and it is a blast. You must consider coming but call Hurley next week if you are! Yes, we have all went through all the diet traps haven't we LOL! Do you know when you are going to be scheduled? I wish you the best. Again any ?'s I will gladly try to answer. You are on your way to a new you with a lot more health! That is the best gift one can give themselves..  Welcome to the brighter side friend, Judy R

Hi Judy, thanks for your reply.  I don't think I will be up to going to the Bariatric Ball if it is on April 5, because my surgery is scheduled for April 2.  But I will plan on being there next year and a whole lot thinner too!  I was really surprised to see the same nutrients used for the liquid diet as MWLC uses. My preop testing at the hospital is on wednesday and that is when I start my 2 week liquid diet.  Well I hope you have a good time at the Ball and think of me when your biting into the solid food because I will still be on liquids..  I should be good and tired of liquids by the time the 4 weeks passes.  And hopefully down some pounds.  Did you cheat at all on the liquid diet?  Maybe a few bites at a family meal or anything?  I don't plan on cheating but just curious, I don't want to jepardize the surgery.  When do they tell you about support groups.  I haven't gotten any ifo on that yet and I should write it down to ask them.  Well thanks for your kind words of support they mean alot! I look forward to one day meeting you.  Patti

Hi there, I am having lapband with dr. Kralovich and dr wagner will be with him.  They do it in pairs I am told, but Kralovich is my main surgean.  I am so ready for this.  Congrats Grandma,  I can tell you are very proud.  There sure isn't anything than can beat the beauty of a new born.  Such miracles.  I am a mother of 2, my daughter will be 10 in August and my son just turned 7.  If you include my husband makes three kids.  I got a later start in life because I had alot of wild oats to sew!  I am very excited to be on the path of better health and better life here real soon.  Thank you for all your kind words and support and I am happy to have you for my friend.  I will keep in touch....  Hugs back at you, Patti
