Good Morning Everyone,
I had RNY 7 months ago and am going very well. I have lost almost 90 pounds and am now losing about 2 pounds a week, which I am happy with. I am very close to goal because I had lost 20 pounds before my surgery. About 3 months ago I had severe pain and retching after my dinner and had to go to the emergency and ended up staying in the hospital 4 days due "they say" to a partial blockage. I was never convinced that was it. Well, last night I started with the pain again and I didn't go to the hospital. I was up all night in agony. It finally went away. I want to know what it was. I didn't eat anything differently. I had 3 oz of chicken, a tbsp of rice, a tbsp of squash for dinner. I keep a food journal so I noticed that I had only had a little over 700 cal and I was a little hungry latter on so I had some high protein cereal (1/2 cup) with a 1/2 cup soy milk. Now this is where I may of went wrong. I used splenda and I dumped on more than I usually do. Could that have done it? Also I noticed that the soy milk had expired but I used it anyway. It tasted fine. ??? I also had a very thin slice of cheese and a couple of crackers. That brought my total for the day to under 1000 cals and over 75 grams of protein.
I am going to my internal medicine doctor today and I will discuss this with her but I doubt if she will have any answers. I don't want this to happen again. It feels like I am in labor. Please help.
Thank you,
Susan

I want to thank everyone for responding to my question. Oh- no one did. I thought this was where I would go for help but I guess I was wrong.... Anyway, I figured it out for myself and I won't trouble myself here again.

Wow, catty indeed.
It'**** or miss when you ask for medical advice on a message board. Sometimes we don't know what's going on, most of the time we don't want to try to diagnose when what you really need is a doc's opinion.
I suppose someone could have just given you a courtesy answer. Sorry no one did.
