Plastics question(s)

I know I'm probably jumping the gun on this by a lot, but I've been wondering a couple of things. I'm thinking of doing the plastic surgery route in December and wondering what time line most of you followed for getting the surgery approved by insurance and everything set-up.  Is starting the process in September too early/late? Is 4 weeks off from work probably enough?   What is the time-frame until somebody is 100% post-op?  I'm thinking of doing some things in the summer of 2009 that will require me to be in the utmost physical shape.  Is 7 months post-op reasonable or not?  How physical were you able to be 2 months post-op?   Like I said, I know I'm jumping the gun a little, but I've got get some of this info so I can plan the 2009 adventure that I'm thinking of. Thanks for the info!

I had a TT after 2 years and I was off work 6 weeks, I then went back to work with lifting restricions for a few more weeks.  My insurance did not pay stating it was cosmetic.  I then had my arms done after 4  years and again they did not pay.  Tomorrow is my 5 years RNY anniversay and I am happy.  Don''t push things..wait until you are almost near your goal. The Plastic Surgeon should tell you that. Best of luck,                                Robin

I think the guidelines are 100 lbs then one year. I should have taken all six weeks. I was hurting pretty good for a while. Go soak yer reed. kp

Just to clarify -- I'm down 185 lbs and have between 20-40 pounds to go (40 to be normal BMI).  December will put me about 16 months post-op and I imagine that I'll be there, especially considering my exercise plan is going up and I'm getting more serious about trying to get in shape.   I am currently running 5 miles 3x a week, BUT my new puppy was able to do some running with me so I should be able to get in at least 2 miles every day until I can get her up to my distance.  Add into that a biking regime that will have me doing 100 miles on 1 day in June.  Basically, I'm not worried about hitting my goal.  I'll be gone all summer enjoying Vegas then Yellowstone then Alaska.  I'm also dreaming about the next thing on my "I never thought I could list" and trying to get ready for it in 2009  That will take a 6 month fitness program to get up to where I need to be (and the above things only put me 1/2 the way through that list!) For those of you who've done the plastics, how soon were you back to running/lifting weights.  Maybe that's the question I should've asked. Now going to soak my reeds. --Sax

Hi Sax, First, it depends on what you plan on doing.  Everyone recovers at a different rate so that is really hard to predict.  I had two procedures done.  I had TT & breast lift.  I tried to get right back into my power walking at 6 weeks and it started aggrevating my inscisions so I had to slow down and give it a little more time.  You have to listen to your body.  Get as close to your goal weight as possible - you will have much nicer results.  Do your research, find a good doctor.  Great job on your weight loss so far....you've done awesome! Take care, Carey
