BCBS changes affect me
I looked back at some older posts and wanted to let the skeptics out there know BCBS did make policy changes. I am in month seven of the 12 month documenting/waiting period, and got the call from my surgeons office on 12/20. In fact I have an appointment on the 2nd to see Dr Zeni and staff at St Marys, and schedule my surgery, with this new policy I am eligible now!
It's actually harder, than I thought though, when I quit smoking I picked a date and as the date got closer I prepared. I went from a May date? to maybe 6 weeks? and it's hard to wrap my mind around... instead of a summer recovery, I'll need clothes that fit, I'll be able to ride a bike... I'm so excited, but the terror is there too. I don't want to wait until May obviously, how do I mentally prepare in turbo? Thoughts?
Well, congratulations to you!! You will be so happy next summer when you are able to enjoy yourself.
I think you are worried about quitting smoking to be able to have the surgery if I'm reading that correctly. If this is the case, there is nothing more worth quitting for, other than yourself. You can do it!!
Hey, congratulations !
As soon as you get to the training classes, you will get lots of questions answered.
The biggest change I would go back and make if I could is to get some regular, gentle exercise in before surgery. Yes, my joints would have hurt, but they hurt then anyway. It would have made moving my body much easier afterward.
My usual advice is to put new batteries in the remote control, memorize the contents of the binder you will get and start reading all the packages in the grocery store NOW. I think you will be given an exercise of writing out a sample day's eating in each of the stages after surgery. This really helped me, and helped me to shop in advance as well.
Drop a line if you like, I am excited for you!
OMG Jane, I am so excited too, but equally terrified! I had already decided to incorporate some excercise into my life beginning today (Happy New Year, by the way). My husband tuned up and moved the exercise bike into the family room in front of the TV for me, I did some snow shoveling this morning (nearly had a heart attack it's so heavy, we got about a foot out here in South Lyon) so the bike waits until I am rested up this afternoon, but I'll be on it!
I'm in the process of re-reading the three books I have on RNY, I'd forgotten some of the highlights while I have been waiting... I'll let you know as soon as I know! Gosh I can hardly believe it, when I called and spoke to Angie, she said they still have openings for the end of the month... is that really possible? I meet with Paula tomorrow afternoon! Lexia
