Exercise songs...........
Excuse my silliness but it must just be the season.. When I saw your headline the first song that came to mind was one that as a child (probably before you were even born) we used when I attend parochial school was Chicken Fat.
It's a silly song that the nuns made us exercise to. Everytime I thik of it, it brings a smile to my face. If you ever have an opportunity to listen to it you may also find it silly enough to exercise to and laugh out loud while doing so. We have come so far in the world of exercise.. AND the recognotion that females can participate equally with men.
Congrats on your exercise commitment.
Pat,
I remember that song, I went to a small town school and had to exercise to it for years. People laugh at me when I ask them if they have ever heard it. I am glad I am not the only one now. However, we could probably use that song now to keep us motivated. " GIVE THAT CHICKEN FAT TO THE CHICKENS AND DON'T BE CHICKEN AGAIN".
hope your holidays are going good, Phyllis

Hey Jodi!
My ipod shuffle has been a life saver to me. Without it I dont think I would walk as much as I do. I think you may be younger than I but I found that the 90's hip hop music works best to motivate me. Like Notorious BIG and snoop dogg and Ice Cube. But, I have on there today's alternative music like White Stripes, NIN and Plain White T's. Especially the ones with a lots of base. Here are just some of my choices:
Get right - jlo
Rich girl - gwen stefani
Ride a cowboy - big & rich
Crash - dave matthews band
Hypnotize - biggie
It was a good day - ice cube
Closer - nine inch nails
hope this helps!

Hi there,
I spend a little bit of time online on Amazon.com looking at different CDs before I download the songs. This is kind of old school...but when I was younger I got the "Jock Jams" CDs and they are pretty upbeat.
If you like older music, these are pretty good for motivation. Keep up the good attitude! I wish I could get myself motivated to get out there!
Jodi,
An Ipod is on of the absolutely best exercise motivators in my opinion. There he been many mornings that mine kept me going.By having a set pattern of music if didn't have my routine, and if I don't make it to a certain point by a certain song, than I know I need to "pick" up the pace. You look younger than me so my first suggestion is to pick something you like, not something you associate with "oh darn, i have to workout."Also don't make it too slow and relaxing or you will spend too much time watching the snow plows(this time of year) and cars slide through the intersections.
I dont know if you got a nano(mini) one that goes on your arm or one that goes on your belt, but most people who jog,run are scared f the belt style ones because they are afraid they will skip, fall off, etc. I have jogged 5-6 miles for 4 years and have never lost my little exercise buddy. Either way, Invest in a good holder, and you will be all set- Don't try to hold it in your hand."
If you want some of my music suggestions. please feel free to email me- I saw you had lots of music suggestions, just wanted to add some "user friendly advise from an oldtimer.
Take care.
