Question for you MMPC WLS veterans
In the binder that MMPC gives you, there is information about Blodgett Hospital and the hospitality rooms. As soon as you know your surgery date, call them and book the room for your hubby. It's only $15 and it gives him and you a chance to get some sleep (in between nurse checks). It's only one floor up from the bariatric floor so he's really close.

You are going to love Blodgett campus. I have been hospitalized several times in the Detroit area, and could not believe the difference in how nice the hospital was. The fact that it was a dedicated bariatric unit was most helpful. Most of the nurses there knew their stuff and even the nursing aide staff was just so exceptionally helpful and friendly. When I had my surgery last August, MMPC/Blodgett had not done that many duodenal switches. They kind of assumed my situation was the same as a RNY'er, and it's NOT. This led to some misunderstanding a few times.
I have nothing but good to say about Drs. Kemmeter and Foote. Dr. Foote and I are both from the same small town, and we connected immediately. I found them to be so professional and competent.
My only concern with MMPC in general is that they are still within the learning curve on managing the post-op needs of a DS patient. I sometimes end up having to provide them with information I have researched and have had to be pretty proactive in my nutritional follow-up. Other than that, I've found them to be highly competent.
