It is Saturday morning and my PCP called me!!  He informed me of my sleep study results, which I already knew because I had gotten a letter.  He hadn't seemed very supportive at my initial visit but today he wanted to "work with me" to get ins. approval to see the surgeon!!!!!!  So--He is going to dictate a letter to my insurance and get all the paperwork together.  I am going to see my sleep Dr. on 1/2 and after that I will take my personal ins. letter and the sleep Dr. notes to my PCP's office and they will submit it altogether. I am so excited!!  Does anyone have advice on what else to include?  I want to be a thorough as possible to avoid denial. WHOOOOOO!!  I feel like I am actually "on the road".  Instead of "waiting at the starting gate".

Make sure your PCP includes any co morbidities that may be an issue you with you.  In example, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, diabetes, etc.  Research the co morbidities and make your doc aware of them and ask for his full support as well as his signature on a letter of support.   It is very important that the insurance company knows that you know the co morbidities.

Also check with your insurance company to see if you need any time fram for supervised diet visits and have your pcp add that information in his letter because a lot of the insurance companies need proof that you attempted to loose weight and was monitored by your phyisicain before they will approve for having surgery.  Tricia

Hey Laura, have your PCP print of PH requirements and follow them when submitting your information for you.  Since you have done the MMPC med diet before (if I remember right) that should not be a problem at all.  Sounds like things are moving along. Congrats!!
Smile.....Everyone will wonder what you have been up to!!
