OT: Am I the only one.......
Sorry girls, I'm the total opposite. I love Christmas and am kind of sorry it's going to be over soon! Maybe I just feel this way because school is out and I have already given out all the gifts for the bus drivers, teachers, therapists, nurses, and classroom aides. That's the toughest part of my holiday season, and it's over! You can always do what I did with my son....I took him to the Lutheran Services center in Wayne and served a meal to the homeless families there. That made him quit begging for so much stuff! Whatever you celebrate, I hope you have joy, laughter, family and friends. PS Carey....take it easy girl, we're in the home stretch. Stop and get a pedi while you're shopping. You deserve it!
Hi Carey!
It's been a while! Yeah, I was feeling that overwhelming feeling about a week ago, but now I am ready and the pressure is off. We just don't spend like we used to, which alleviates things. My kids are grown and they know "Santa Claus" is not bringing the gifts anymore (yes, it's true!), and they know the value of a dollar and how hard it is to come by. So that's good. I'm just so happy that they will all be home for the holidays!! My daughter Andrea will be flying in from CA on Monday morning, and my daughter Christy will be driving up from Grand Rapids the same day. My son Jimmy lives in town here, so he doesn't have far to go!:-) Now for the cooking of all the "favorites" that they love...part of coming home to them is all the familiar family dishes. I just have to watch myself not to overdo on the eating. It's all the snacking that gets me in trouble. So far though, I have not gained this season! I'm happy with that.
How old are your kids, Carey? I know how stressful it can get, especially if they are at the age where they want the expensive things like IPODS and MP3 players. Gone are the days of getting away with buying a few dolls, race cars, and board games, I'm afraid. I think the idea of helping out at a homeless shelter is a great idea for kids to get the picture that there are so many that have nothing, and that they are very fortunate to have a roof over their heads and a hot meal every day. If there were one by me, I just might do that myself!
Well Carey, I hope you have a wonderful, blessed Christmas! Miss talking to you, my friend!
Big hugs,
Theresa
Soul Sista!!! There she is! It has been a while hasn't it? Well, my girls are 13 and 9 going on 25 and 21!!!! My little one still believes in Santa. Which makes it difficult. But yes, they want the MP3 players, digital cameras, Guitar Hero - all that stuff. So it's hard when your hubby is in school full time and it's a single income household. My priority is the kids. That's all I'm worried about. Been very busy at work. Trying to get everything done. Having Christmas w/ my family on the 24th and then his family on the 25th. I am definitely looking forward to having sometime off that's for sure. Need a break. Well I hope you enjoy your family. I know it will be great for you to have everyone together. Have a great Holiday season! I miss talking to you too! Hope Santa is good to you my friend! Happy Happy and Merry Merry! Carey
