I can eat a WHOLE small Wendy's chili with no problem.  Seems like the hotter it is the easier it is to get down.  Does this mean my pouch is stretched out??? Gawd I hope not!!  I'm not even 3 months out and I could have already stretched it out!!!! OMG!! Please help me...

When I eat a soup or chili I have to measure how much I allow myself because I too can eat a powerful amount of anything that is liquid based.  I'm guessing my opening has stretched a bit since surgery which now allows my pouch to empty a bit more quickly than before... this naturally equals increased capacity. . I remember that at 3 months out I could eat more food.  This will vary greatly from one day to the next.  I wouldn't be too worried about it at this point.  Now if you were eating 2 chilis, I would worry.

Thanks Jenn.. Today I had no problem.. but the other day I had to throw half it away because I warmed it up and it was not as liquidy and could not get it all down.  So you are right, it does varies day to day... Thanks for the responce!

I know we've had different surgeries, but when I've had something hot to drink like tea or soup before I actually eat, I can eat WAY more because the stoma is relaxed.  If I have ice water before I eat and it's cold out, haha, I may get 3 bites down.

That is very interesting.  I drink hot tea in the morning, and Lunch is usually my largest meal.  I drin**** tea in the afternoon, and consume a smaller supper.    It would be interesting if that is the corrolation.

Actually, I believe there is a correlation between hot and cold food / drinks, especially with the band anyway.   If I drink something cold my pouch doesn't usually like me for a few minutes.  However, if I drink something warm like coffee or tea first, I am able to comfortably eat my meal and not be so prone to problems.

Jodi, the more liquidy something is the easier it is to go right through your pouch.  It's not stretching.  This is why at 6 months, MMPC will tell you not to eat much soup.  I still do soup but I put fat free crackers in it to thicken it up so it stays with me.  You'll hear that your pouch is like a funnel.  If you pour liquid into a funnel, it goes right out.  If you put solids in it, it stays.  If you eat with this in mind, you'll know how much you can handle.  A small Wendy's chili isn't all that much since not much of it stays with you but it sure tastes good.  Try adding some crackers (fat free if you can find them) and it'll make it just a bit better but don't put more than 4 in and be sure to count those calories in your total.

Thanks Ann.  I do use crackers and I use more then 4 and I do not count calories.  I was told I did not have to do that yet.  Oh man, maybe I should call to make sure!  The Nut said we did not eat enough at this time to worry about calories.  I guess I shall call this up coming week. Thanks!

Nope, you don't have to count them yet, you're not far enough out.  I put that in for down the road after 6 months.  I got in the habit early on to keep up with everything I ate so that when the time came, I was used to it.  I still put all my food down in Fitday because I have a problem getting all my calories in lately but I don't want to go over the 30 grams of fat I'm allowed and want to make sure that my protein count is high. You're doing great Jodi, I'm so proud of you.
