Stool Softners... TMI!!!!!!!!!!!
What do you guys thing about taking a daily or 3 stool softners. Since surgery, I do not "poop" regular. Hardly at all. Yes I know it will help to get all my fluids in, but in the mean time, I need to get this "crap" out... LOL Before surgery I was a "everytime go to the bathroom pooper" now.. lucky if it is a few times a week. I'm thinking about on the weekends to take MOM every Friday just to clean myself out. This is NOT like me to not be regular... I know TMI, but you are the only ones that can help me. I'm open to ANY suggestions.
Thanks!
Jodi,
It wasn't a stool softener that helped me it was getting MORE fiber in my diet.
Flax seed granola bars and flax seed in any thing you eat will surely help you. I know some who use flax seed oil in their protein shakes and it helps.
There are many options out there we CAN eat that has flax seed in it, just read the label.
I highly recommend Flax seed granola though- Meijer carries it or you can grind your own and bake with it.
I think it'd be better to get your FIBER in your diet by food rather than a pill. Short term its ok but eat more foods that are rich in fiber to help you!
Best wishes!

I'm a lot farther out than you, but I eat some reduced fat Triscuits and one Kashi bar a day and that keeps me happy, if you know what I mean.
Watch the sugar in the Kashi bar....it doesn't bother me but it might not sit well with you. Stacey's suggestion is spot on with the flax. Just be careful not to sit down with a big bowl of granola in milk. It will expand in your poor little pouch and you'll feel like you might explode.
Search the web for high fiber foods. There is even prune enriched activia yogurt....I saw that at Meijer's tonight. Again, check the sugar content.
Here's hoping you start moving :)
Jodi,
This is what I did. I was taking Benefiber, but it made me gassy. So I had a big time backup, if you know what I mean. I took MOM to clean me out, then started 3 Colace a day. I've been regular since.
Kevin, your suggestion about crack is good, but I find it makes me forget to eat. And you know that protein is first in our lifestyle. Also, you CRACK me up.
Good Luck Jodi...is Tis the Season to be Poopy.

Jodi,
You need to remember that you are eating much smaller quantities of food now so you won't need to get rid of it as often.
I've had to take MOM twice, both times after taking pain killers. I found that one dose will clear things up very quickly. Just try to be at home all day when you take it
