Tracey, I never intended to scare Shannon, I just related my experience as candidly as possible.  The truth is important even though it can be scary.  I agree that it is a bit alarming that my surgeon pulled all 4 drains after only six days, but it was a mutual decision and he DID tell me there could be some accumulation.  The tubes were pulling and tugging, causing the sites to be irritated and sore all the time, so based on the amount of drainage, we chose to take them out, not taking into account the TOTAL daily output of all 4 combined.  THAT is what landed me back in there for re-placement.  So we made a mistake...it was corrected in a timely manner and I am perfectly fine now.  He did not charge my insurance for that visit, either.  He was such a gem when I called him, knowing I am 2 hours away from the office.  He made time for me since I was willing to drive upstate without an appointment.   To Shannon...I am sorry if anything I said scared you.  I just wanted you to know that the potential for fluid accumulation IS there after taking the JP's out, that's all.  Good luck and I hope you can get your drains removed because YES, they are annoying!
