I agree- it all depends on your program guidelines.  My program was no straws...but when I try a straw I get some much gas pressure I can't stand it.  SO I dont use one- but I know people who do and have no problems. If your Nut. says to use one and you wanna try it- go 4 it. Shannon

I use a straw all the time.  I have no issues with it.  Some people do, some people don't.  I say if you can use a straw without any issues and it helps you get in your water, then go for it.  I would try it slowly at first.

Jodi,            When I had my by-pass I was also told NEVER use a straw, that was 4 years ago.  Today, I use them all the time because I still have troubles (after 4 years) drinking enough.   If I use a straw I can suck things down.  If I don't, I can sip a bottle of water all day long.             Best of luck..                                  Robin

Thanks for the reply... I have been testing out the straw thing this long weekend.  I have not had any problems with gas bubbles.  I have noticed that I do get in more, so I am going to continue to use one.  I go tomorrow for my 6 week check up, so I will ask what they think then.  I'm sure if it helps me get in all my liquids and does not make me sick, they are not going to care.  :O)
