Okay.... I need some advise.....

I went with Dr. Kemmeter at MMPC because he was hosting the seminar the night I went and I really liked his sense of humor.  Stupid reason to pick a surgeon, but I also looked at his credentials to 'justify' my choice!  LOL   He's a great surgeon with a wonderful bedside manner and won't let you get away with anything.  He calls it like he sees it, that's for sure! I have also heard wonderful things about Dr. Baker.  Very wonderful things. I think that no matter who you go with at MMPC you're in good hands.  That really is one outstanding operation (no pun intended!). Anna

You can always stop by and meet Dr. Schram and hear about both surgerys the day after thanksgiving in Holland, he is giving a seminar at 8:00 am in Holland.  If I remember right lets look at death rate doctor by doctor the worse complication of all : Schram Zero What about these other doctors...have you asked ?

You have a lot of replys here.  I can only tell you follow with the surgeon YOU feel comfortable with.  I went to Barix after going to a couple of different seminars, and went with Dr. Schram after a recommendation from a friend.  I absolutely had the best experience there.  Dr. Schram was so good, on surgery day I was about at a panic, he prayed with me before surgery and my journey has been pretty much complication free.  I had a stricture that was taken care of out patient, and that was about it. I moved to SC from Michigan just a couple of months after and his office assisted me in finding someone here to continue my post op care with, and made the records and transistion very smooth.  I have gone from a size tight 24 and a max of 286 lbs to a size 2, But I chose a lap roux-n-y.  Lap band was not recommended for me. Just do your research and go with your gut feeling, don't be afraid to switch surgeons either if you become uncomfortable.  This is a life changing alteration to our bodies and we have to take charge. Thanks Bec........ actually I have made a decision   I too am going with Dr. Schram!  My husband and I met him yesterday 11-23-07 and he seems like a wonderful guy..... he sat and chatted with us for like 45 minutes!  So their turning my medical letter into my insurance and we'll see where it goes from there! Thanks for the support and congradulations to you as well........... your doing awesome and you look marrrrrrvelious darrrrling, simply marvelious!!  And you know what?.................  It's stinken cold here in Michigan   but it's Michigan, that time of season, we could be barried in 6' of snow right now.... OMG I just said the "four letter word"   Anyway you keep up the great work as well!!!

Congratulations!!!
