Martha, My surgery is in 3 weeks and I am feeling just as nervous!!!   I was so excited  right away and then had to start planning and that is when it all sinks in I think!! WOW!!  Did you have all your pre-op appts yet?  I have to go to the 4 hour group appt this Friday. Nervous a little about that toobut I remember the EP,nut, etc from the medical program so not so scary!! Good luck!! Cathi

I had my 5 hour meeting today.  It actually went pretty quick. Todd (the PA) was quite funny and very casual, but still informative, came home with my yukky foods and lots of paperwork to read.  I am in my glory...I love to read whatever I can get my hands on about this! The only thing yet for me to do is to start the yukky diet and next week I have a short meeting with a PA, and will have some bloodwork drawn there upstairs. Martha

I am told they have you meet with the PA,nutritionist, and the exercise physiologist and that is when they tell you about your restrictions, recommendations for before and after surgery and finish up some of the final paperwork. Kind of like pre and post op teaching.  I meet with the PA then the following Tuesday and then surgery the following week.

Martha, Congrats on getting your surgery date.  So your insurance finally approved?  Isn't it interesting, I have Priority Health and they JUST changed their Bariatric Surgery policy to include the VSG in September, though it's extremely limited as to the language.  Luckily my insurance also approved the surgery.  I have to have an EGD done (which is today) and once they find my tummy is ok they can schedule my surgery. Thanks for the information on the bougie.  I was just wondering about that. Have a happy Thanksgiving, Melinda

Hi Martha, I was wondering what the "bougie" is for the sleeve? I am considering the sleeve (or LapBand), and am trying to get any and all info I can! Thank you.

Thanks! The bougie size refers to how small they make your stomach...the smaller the number, the smaller the stomach.  I have seen the numbers range from 32 to 40. My insurance will cover it FINALLY, but it was my hubby's employer who actually approved the procedure.  They are self insured and I had to appeal all the way to them.

Yeah!!  Martha

I am very happy for you Martha! I too hope to get the sleeve done through MMPC, and will find out on 12/5. Best of luck to you, and by all means, PLEASE let me know how everything goes, as I hope to follow soon in your footsteps!
