Sleep Test Monday! Any suggestions?

I am having a sleep test on Monday.  Can anyone tell me what it's like?  Are the "electrodes" uncomfortable?  Do people actually watch you sleep through a one way window?  I guess it can't be that bad.  Especially if we get to the bottom of this and I can get surgery covered. Thanks, Laura

I had a sleep study done downtown. Her name was Lafonda. She said she was qualified. It was the fishnets and high heels that threw me JK They hook you up and watch you sleep via cameras. You won't know because it is done with night vision technology. They make note of every time you have an episode. You can't study for it so don't worry about it. You'll be fine. kp

I found the electrodes quite uncomfortable and could not fall asleep for hours.  I finally took an 'Ambien' to help me.  Never did feel like I got any sleep, and I had to go to work the next day!! My test came back negative, no sleep apnea.  Heck, I figured no sleep, can't have sleep apnea!  lol 'Course I don't sleep well at hotels either. Anna

Laura, Hubby had a study done at MMPC in Holland on Williams.  It was a pretty nice place...not wuite all the amenities as a 4 star hotel, but at least you know they are watching you there!

They let me stay there, too, but in a different room....comfy bed, dish tv, very quiet, but then again, I didn't have wires attached to me.  The one thing I will say about this place (don't know about others) is that you hve to be there about 9PM and they get you up early, like 6 AM.  My kids are grown, for me that's early , anyway. So, if you have a hard time falling asleep, you won't get a whole lotta rest.   Good luck Martha

My sleep study was done in Saginaw.  Very nice place and nice people.  Gooey stuff all over your head in the morning... nervous about making "noises" during the night (because the administrators hear and see everything)...  difficult to fall asleep...  keep it cold so you don't sweat and mess up the electrodes...  But it is a night with cable and a bed to yourself ;-} All-in-all not a terrible experience.  I have apnea, so I had to go back a second time to get fitted with a mask and a CPAP number. Best of luck! Kris

Thanks Everyone, I appreciate the hair advice, as I have to work after I wake up.  Thank goodness I have time to go home and wash my hair a FEW times!!! I will be working all day now so I won't be able to get back on until Tuesday night. Can't wait for a night of goo and "watch that chick sleep" paranoia!!!  LOL Thanks Again,

Laura
