Lansing area and/or IRMC

Anyone from the Lansing area and/or having your RNY @ IRMC?  I tried to do a search, but I can't figure out how with the new format and it's been so long since I've posted that I'm just lost. :/  Best wishes to you all! Shawna (...still waiting to have the RNY, hopefully Feb/Mar. 2008!)

I live in Mason and went to grand rapids for my surgery.  I would highly recommend for you to do the same.  The surgeons name is Dr. Foote.

I live in Lansing (IRMC  is literally in my back yard) and chose to go to Grand Rapids also.  I received excellent care there.

Thanks girlies. I've already signed on with the Bariatric program thru Ingham. (Almost a year ago)...just waiting on the "12 month waiting period" with my insurance company. Who'd-a-thunk you had to visit a doctor EVERY time you tried some sort of diet?! Not me...so that's what I'm doing now. Just waiting....last visit will be 1-2-08, then once they have my progress notes...I'm off to meet the surgeon! Can't wait! Mary Jo, I work in Mason :) We moved from Leslie to Lansing about 2 years ago now. So much more convenient up here!!

I grew up in Leslie and moved to Lansing.  I still work in Leslie, LOL.

That's too funny. I grew up in Leslie too. My parents lived there for 25+ years and just moved to Lansing this past summer as well. What a small world. Dare I ask where you work? It's such a small town, most people will say to me "WHERE'S Leslie" (or should I say LeZlie..LOL)

My parents own the local sign shop.  I have worked for them for 12 years.  We were just talking about LeZlie, hehe!

We live in Okemos but I am mostly interested in Lapband which IRMC doesnt do and Sparrow prefers RNY.  So I am starting with Memorial in Owosso next month. I was referred for surgery 3 yrs ago but had an HMO at the time taht wouldnt pay for it.  Starting Jan 1 2008 our current insurance will pay!  So I am just starting the process. Good Luck Laura!!  We have a Mom (I work in a daycare) that just had the LapBand done at Sparrow a couple of weeks or so ago. She's doing fantastic!!  I, too, have had to put off the surgery for insurance reasons (them not covering it) and now I finally have a good one that WILL cover it. I'm ready to get the process underway!  Best wishes to you as we follow your journey! :)

I live in Lansing, however, work in Grand Rapids.  My insurance is Priority Health, so I ended up at MMPC in Grand Rapids with Dr. Foote as my surgeon.  If you are looking for a surgeon, he came highly recommended by my PCP.
