Yesterday.... and I have already puked three times!!! First and second time was on canned chicken with a tiny bit of miracle whip.  THis was not a full fledge puke it was really foamy and tasted like miracle whip.  This lasted for about 10 minutes...Could this have been from the egg in the Miracle whip??  I know lots of RNYer's cannot handle eggs... Second time was today and was on steamed cauliflower.  I took a few bites... had major pain.. then mouth started to water and so went to the sink and ... you know...I did not "wrench" like pre surgery, it just come up chunky like I did not chew good enough.... Now I consider this puking... Was the chicken one considered puking???  I know the cauliflower was puking.. I still feel pain and keep burping up crap.. but ignoring it.  Can someone tell me if the chicken/foaming was a real puking... I'm still new at this and when I go for my 6 weeks I want to tell them if I actually puked or not.. Uggh.. all the learning curves there are!!

Hey Jodi, no, it probably wasnt the eggs, it was that horrible vicious chicken!  I still cant eat that stuff!  boy do i remember what that feels like.  i thought i could have the cauliflower too.  i read that it resembled rice, NOT!  oooohhhh the pain it caused me.  i was bent over in pain holding my gut.  dont feel too bad, i think we all go thru this.  but the burping did help with the pain a lot.  i am five months post op and i feel pretty confident i am done with the puking.  wait, did i just jinx myself?

Call it whatever you want - I'm sure it was horrible. I doubt it'd be from the egg in Miracle whip (you had such a small amount) I'd say it was the chicken. could be not chewed enough, or the pouch just didn't appreciate it.  Chew, chew, chew.... it's a hard lesson to learn but a very important one!!  Make sure you only "test" one new food at a time so that you'll know what your pouch likes and doesn't like.  You'll get the hang of things!!!!!!!!!

Can I just inquire that at "1 month out" what are you doing eating canned chicken and cauliflower???????????? I was still on PUREED foods at 1 month out .......couldnt handle canned nothing unless it was MUSH and the cauliflower I have yet to be able to eat. Just curious- are you following the post op plans? Meaning- should you be eating canned chicken or cauliflower?

I have a print out from my nut and on 4-6 weeks I can have lunchmean, canned meats,  (tuna and chicken) MASHED cauliflower, chunk cheese, string cheese... I would not eat it if I was not allowed to have it!  :O)

Just was curious.... Just be careful, remember to chew and believe me, you are learning after puking three times in 1 month! Good luck!

Jodi, First let me start off by saying I never ate anything that wasn't allowed by my NUT....so with that said...for the first year I threw up about 5 times a week.  Almost everything I ate for dinner, I threw it back up.  So I had a yogurt, and tried again the next day.  I wasn't doing anything wrong (meaning they were always "allowed" foods, chewed to oblivion, eaten slowly etc.) my pouch was just a cranky little biatch and wasn't going to make life easy for me. I hope you're not like that, but you could have a pouch that's a little more sensitive.  I've never had foaming, but the whole mouth watering, coming up in chunks (sorry guys!) that's me.  I still have it happen on occasion, and I have learned what it feels like when something just isn't going to sit right.  Rather than be in pain and feel bad for a few hours, I just go take care of it and I'm fine.  I take it sort of easy on the old pouch the rest of the evening and try again the next day. I had a bit of a hard time with chicken, that took a few months to tolerate.  When you try cauliflower again, you could try to puree it with a bit of cheese.  If you have a problem, then wait a few weeks until you try again. You'll get the hang of it.  Just be patient, chew chew chew (or blend blend blend) and don't be afraid to throw up.  It's not the end of the world, and sometimes it just happens.

Your pouch will start to be crankier now that you are a few weeks out.  It took me 3 months before I could eat chicken.  If you can, try eating dark meat chicken.  I know it has more fat, but at this stage, there is no way you are going to get too much fat.  You are just learning the ropes with your new stomach.  Heck, I'm still learning about mine over a year out.  It's all trial and error. Hang in there! Jenn
