Are there any "legal cheats" on the Hurley Pre-Op Liquid Diet?

Are there any "legal cheats" on the Hurley Pre-Op Liquid Diet?  I remember being told something about having a cup of broth, a small suger-free yogurt, or small proten shake to fill in the gaps if needed.   It's just that there was so much information given that day - that I'm not sure if they meant that for the Pre-Op Diet or for Post-Op liquid diet!!

Anyone know??  THANK YOU!!!!

Call Becky and ask her. She may have to return the call but she responds fairly quickly. I had a couple of slices of American cheese the first week of the diet, after that I followed the diet. It really wasn't too bad. I found I did not like the protein mixed like pudding but it was pretty good if you mixed it like a thin shake. If you let it set for a couple of minutes it was even better. I choose the chicken soup and it was OK.  I have had a couple of urges but worked really hard to keep them in check. I knew I was not hungry~ and really did not need it so now I am starting on that will power testing.

Best of luck to you! It will go fast once the diet starts.

Thank you!   All good ideas! I ground a banana into my evening shake and that gave it more bite without a lot of calories.  I also backed-off the diet tea, because I think the sweetness makes me hungry.

I think having day-three behind me will help.   I also hate the tomatoe soup.   LOL - I used to think people were just being picky when they said stuff like that about the diet food.   Now I realize that when you're only allowed one "food" all day (which is one cup of powdered-soup), and you don't even fini**** ... that's a problem!!   I ordered more chicken soup tonight because I know I like that, and one other type to give me variety if I get tired of the chicken. Thanks again for your help!!

I had the tomato soup and i hated it!  it was the worst part of the LD the 3 shakes a day were fine.  mixed on the thin side and over a LOT of ice.. i found the colder the better.   Day three was the worst!!!  after that I got very used to the liquid diet..... Let me get my book and i will let you know what other things you are alowed on LD: If you look on page 7 if you have the hurley bariatric folder from your nutrition class, it will tell you the acceptable liquids those are good both pre and post surgery. Hope that helps if you have any more questions I'd just call Becky, or Devora

Hey Lorien,      The first 3-4 days are the most difficult, and maddening. You will go crazy as you feel your hunger naw at you. I used some sugar free popcicles, and when it was overwhelming once I found my body was lacking protein desperately. I ate a small teaspoon of low sugar smooth peanut butter at night before going to bed so my gut would quit growling! It is good to call Becky. Great thing is it will be over soon; and you will say YES I made it! Best wishes and good luck.. Hugs, Judy R

Thank you for all your help!!! I'm pleased to report that I'm now ONE WEEK out!!  YEA ... only very minor slips.   For example got caught at dinnertime without my packets.  They had tomoatoe soup so I made it with water and ate only 1/2 the can.   Next week is going to be so crazy that I wont have time to think about food!!

Anyway - thank you everyone for your help and support!
