APPROVED

On Friday I contacted the insurance dept at Barix in Ypsilanti to see if my documentation had been submitted to my insurance company, they said everything was submitted on Oct. 4th, so I logged into my insurance company's website to check on the status. I rec'd a response from them today stating it was APPROVED on Oct. 9th. WOW only 4 days after they rec'd everything. They stated my doc and I would getting approval letters with in 7-10 days. As of today Barix hasn't rec'd anything, So now its hurry  up and wait. I am soooooo excited.

I originally started this over 2 years ago and changed my mind after had my first consult ,because I was like I  lost the weight on my own before I can do it again, but it didnt quite work out that way. So I chose to have 2nd consult at Barix in April. I had all my paperwork done but the 2nd seesion of psych eval by end of June. Finally found some free time in August to complete psych eval. which my psych doc submitted 2 weeks later, but some how got lost in the Barix paperwork shuffle so she resubmitted it via fax at the end of Sept. I called Barix  few says later to see if they rec'd it and they did, but the lady there was honest and said the powers that be may not have a chance to look at everything yet. I guess there are really swamped at Barix because someone in insurance  is no longer there. But anyway here I am now all approved.  I just cant believe how quickly I was approved after everything was sent to insurance. I can say this for all those who are seeking insurance approval.....MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL YOUR DUCKS IN ORDER....  give the insurance company whatever they ask for and more.  GOOD LUCK TO ALL THOSE STILL SEEKING APPROVAL.

I am so happy for you.......soon you will have a date. I am waiting right now for my approval. I didn't know you could log on to the ins. web site and look at the status. I think I will look into that. colleen

Thanks, Colleen. Yeah my insurance is Lumenos BC/BS and I logged into theeir site on friday or Saturday and left a message and they sent their response on Monday but I didnt chec****il today. I'm sure most insurance companies have a way  for people to check into claims and such. Good luck to you. Michele

Well I received my official letter of approval today and faxed it over to Barix. I called Vicky in insurance to see if they rec'd their letter and she said no.... so I told her I just faxed over a copy of my letter. She said she was surprised they didnt call her.  Well anyway she was going to give it to Dr. Kam's office so he could review my chart and sign off on it. She said I should be hearing from them soon to schedule PAT's and surgery. I keep pinching myself  to make sure I am not dreaming. Just one step closer to being a whole new me.   Michele
