Fall Colors
I live in Chelsea, amidst the Waterloo Rec Area (22,000 acres of state land). The leaves are still green here, with the exception of a few trees. Our yard is still plush and green and really should be mowed again. I think this is the first year our pool hasn't been full of leaves before we close it.
I don't miss it....it'll be here soon enough! I much prefer summer. However, winter sure makes one appreciate the warm sunshine! Tina

Hi Laurie,
I don't live in Michigan anymore either and I DO miss the colors of fall there. That pleasure has been replaced by the smell of the sea and the salty air when the breezes of fall kick up here on the Indian River Bay.. The sunrises and sunsets are a true gift from God. The colors are beginning to change as the days get shorter and the weather gets cooler. Thing is, we all know that after the color comes the cold of winter, but not here in Delaware. It does get chilly during January and February but to me, it never really turns to winter as I know it from being a native of Michigan. We get snow maybe once or twice but it's usually gone by noon the next day. Last winter, it snowed---once. I love it. We have boat tours here of the outer banks for folks looking to see dolphins or whales, but not sure if there are color tours.
We've been here since May of 2005 and I have no regrets whatsoever about leaving my life in Michigan behind, except for that brief span of time between mid-September and the end of October with all of the beautiful colors. I do miss that. Take care.

Hey there!
My hubby and I are actually going up to Mackinaw City tomorrow just for an overnight stay, to see the colors, etc. We are going over to Drummond Island (his brother has a place there) to check it out, and then hopefully driving by Petoskey on the way home, since it's so pretty there. The weather forcast looks pretty bleak though, so I don't know how vivid the colors will be....hope it clears up at least a little! This MI weather! Anyway, if we get any good pics, I'll post them!
Hugs, Theresa
Hello,
My husband and I went on a train color tour over the weekend. We left from Mt Pleasant and rode by train to Cadillac. It was stunningly beautiful. Not all the leaves had turned yet, but the colors were absolutely gorgeous.
(We took the Mountain Town train) They also have a dinner train we are going to take.
When we got to Cadillac , we walked for a few hours around town, and had lunch, well he had lunch I am still not eating very well. (stricture). Then went to all the shops and antique stores. It was a very romantic and lovely day.
I love Michigan, I have been all over and wouldn't trade it for any other place I've been. Sure its gets cold, but when the winter is over you just appreciate spring all the more.
