I am 5 weeks out. Have lost 30 lbs, but the scale did not move for the last 10 days until today. My question is...I know we will hit plateau's. How long do they usually last. I am not eating different than I was. I am walking etc..

I had surgery  7 weeks ago and just got through my second plateau.  Mine lasted about a week both times.  I have lost 67 pounds sinse aug 1st when I had my pre surgery appointment

It depends on you. There are too many variables. They happen at significant weights on the way up. Just roll with it. You'll be fine. And stop weighing yourself every day. kp

I've always heard that a plateau isn't really a plateau until it lasts for 3 weeks.  If after 3 weeks you don't have any change in weight then you need to try something different --- like adding more exercise or changing your workout routine or re-exaimining your eating habits.  Like KP said, don't weigh every day.  Pick 1 day per week and weigh at the same time every week.  Also keep track of your measurements and body fat percentage (if you've got a scale that'll do that).  You could be losing inches and gaining muscle, which could make you just THINK you're at a plateau when you really aren't. Good luck Pam

I have been stuck at just over 200 lbs for two weeks now, hoping my plateau will end... just need to drink more and get in some exercise.  I have no doubt that at 5 weeks that scale will budge.  And I confess that I still weigh myself every morning.  In the beginning when I was losing so much so fast it was so exciting to get out of bed every morning to weigh myself - like a kid at Christmas!  It will move, I promise - in the mean time have more water, water, water!
