Insurance question

has anyone been ok'd for reconstructive surgery through
Bc/Bs MI community blue ppo, if so I would love to hear about it.

I'm not at that point yet, but I do know about it.   They will pay to have the excess skin removed from your stomach area only.  They have a certain medical critera in order to have it paid for.  You have to have lost over 100lbs.  Kept it off for a certain period of time.  Plus I believe you need to have one more condition (skin breakdown, needs to hang to a certain point) in order for it to be considered medically necessary, not costmetic. 

You can call the customer service number on the back of the card.  Ask the customer service rep what the medical critera is.  If you feel you meet that you can ask your WLS doctor for a referral to a plastic surgery.  During the consult, they will tell you if you meet that medical critera.  If you do - you are a go then.  You do not need pre auth.   Good luck.
