Workout Tapes
It's getting to that time of year when I won't be able to walk when it gets to cold...plus my doctor told me I have to start some toning exercises. Does anyone have any suggestions for beginner exercisers in regards to videos. LIke workout pialattes, or walking tapes? Please give me your suggestions and where I can buy them.
Thanks.

There are the tapes called "Walking off the Pounds" by Leslie Sandstone (i think that's her name) and those are good. You can find these anywhere (Meijers, Target, Wal-mart, etc). I also ordered the Pilates tapes that are advertised on TV (the one with Daisy Fuentes)--these are actually pretty good too. Then there's always the favorite "Sweatin to the Oldies"!! :)
Go to www.beachbody.com. I have most of the tapes, slim N 6, Project You Kathy Smith and Turbo Jam. I currently weight 270 and thats alot of weight. I love project you its aerobics, yoga, ballet, toning all in one. I do turbo jam as well but I can only do the beginning tapes. Go to the site you might like some of the tapes.
Hi,
I bought the Gunnar Peterson's DVD/yoga ball thing called Core Secrets at Dick's Sporting goods. I originally bought it because Nick Lachey did the commercial, and he's smokin' hot....it turns out he's not in the DVD. But, I digress......
It is really easy to do, they give you modified instructions for beginners. I was 300+ lbs. when I started and the ball didn't pop...which is a good thing!
It doesn't do a whole lot for heartrate and cardio, but for toning and stretching those muscles you haven't worked in years, it was great. I got a waist in no time flat. It also helped lift up the girls a bit, if you know what I mean.
If you have cable, they have fitness programs on the "On Demand" feature. I found this both on WOW and Comcast. Both carriers had a fitness walking program that I use in the winter months or when it's raining in combination with the ball exercises.
I personally use DVD's all the time to workout. I had a fantastic gym membership, but always found an excuse not to go. I can't find an excuse to not turn the TV on while I am at home
I started the home dvds when I was still over 200 pounds, and made a commitment to work out at least 4 days a week. I bought the "Walk Away the Pounds" Express set with stretchie at my local Meijers. This includes a 1 mile, 2 mile, and 3 mile workout. These are so simple, I think anyone can do them. I started out with the 1 mile and worked my way up. Since then, I have purchased the 4 mile, and finally last Christmas, the 5 mile workout.
These are made by Leslie Sansone and can be purchased directly from her website, or more cheaply, from Amazon. She can be a *****irpy and gets on my nerves sometimes, but I like the fact they are fairly low impact on the knees. With almost 50 years of morbid obesity, I have really bad arthritic knees, and need to be careful of what I do with them.
The second dvd I like is the Biggest Loser workout, the first one. It is a little harder on my joints, knees and shoulders, but I still like it.
Good luck with whatever one you choose.

Thanks Debra to your insigts. I'm going to check into your suggestions. I'm so lazy when it comes to getting active and I know I have to work on that.
Also, thank you to everyone who took the time to answer my questions. You guys are just great on this forum.
