The Biggest Loser
I watched that show...ONCE. I felt as if they were just exploiting the struggles of the obese, and as for all of the physical endurance stuff...dangerous. You can't take a morbidly obese individual and expect them to perform such physically straining activities. And then to march them up to a scale after a week of all that struggle and make them weigh in for all the world to see? I was disgusted by it and ended up nearly in tears. The same thing goes for that show on TLC I think, about that clinic that tries to make people lose weight by diet and exercise alone. They zoom in on bedridden people as they stuff food in their mouths, turning up the sound so you can actually hear the slurping and chewing, show close ups of staff trying to bathe the patients, show the skin breakdown up close, and generally try to gross out the public. I hate these kind of shows. I mean, I understand these programs are a reality check but I feel so bad for the people they exploit.

The only thing I dislike about the Biggest Loser is the fact that they vote people off. I think it would be better if they just did overall weight-loss percentages.
All of the contestants did voluntarily sign up for the show. They know what they are getting into. I think it's a good illustration to show the "drastic" measures one must take to change their lifestyles.
The payoff at the end, though, is worth the struggle. Last year's winner lost over 200 pounds. I feel the show is meant to provide hope for those who feel they have none.
I don't like the new host, though.....LOL!!

I thought it was just me. When i see the contestants that are 290lbs walking on the treadmill at 5mph, I think, dang, I dont even begin to push myself. Is it because for now, I see weight loss whether or not I exercise? If i hit a plateau, would that force me to push my limits? Heck, I can barely do 3mph and I am 234lbs. What will it take for me to get up to 5??? They certainly have motivation.
