Hello all... I have my surgery date for October three and as you can see my surgeon is Dr Foote.  Does anyone know what hospital Dr Foote will be performing on me?  Is it Blodgett?  I go to MMPC this week for a Dietition and Exercise appt and to pick up my food.  I was just courious.. because I have heard some people bringing their lap top with them to update OH friends.  Did anyone do this?  I would like to bring mine if possible.  Please let me know! Thanks guys! Jodi :O)

Hi, yes you will be at blodgett, i just had my surgery there on sept 7.  I had Dr. Kemmeter.

I dont know about the lap top thing,  I dont think I would have felt  good enough for that. You just want to sleep.

Jodi, you can also use your cell phone once you're in your room.  I don't know if the rooms have wi-fi.  I didn't need a computer there, just about 3 blankets (the room was freezing) and a way to sleep it all off.  The nurses will take very good care of you but remember to get up and walk, walk, walk as soon as you can and don't use a straw to sip even if they give you one.

Hello Ann... I never thought about my cell phone!!  Good thinking...I will definately have that there.  I am going to pack a blanket.  I hate being cold!  It's always so hard to get back to being warm.

YOu are always full of such good information.  Thanks again Ann...

I had the vertical sleeve... you will see some of the other docs when they are up there as well if doc foote is not there...(meaninng, after your surgery, when they do rounds...to check up on ya)....

Icechips will be great!!>.

Ps... ask them for the Minute Maid lemonade to drink....that was yummmyyyyyyyyy.... and if you cant stomach milky stuff like the carnation breakast they are gonna give you, they have a liquidy drink too... it was sooo soo... keep in touch :) katrina

Hey Katrina.. thanks for the reply.  Who do I have to ask for a Private room?  Should I call my INS to see if a private room is covered?  I would like a private room, just do not know how to go about getting one.   Did you have a catheter?  I heard people do.  You are fresh out of surgery, so I will ask you too.  If you did have a catheter, were you already out when it was inserted?  I am going to FREAK OUT, if I am not already "sleeping" when they cath me.  This is the only thing I am scared about.  I don't want anyone down there, if you know what I mean.   I will have ato remember to ask for the lemon drink.  I don't know about the carnation breakfast drink.. I don't think I have ever had it.  I guess I can give it a try.   I really hope I will see Dr Foote.  The first time I met him, he was over and hour late for my appointment.  He was at the hospital doing his morning rounds.  That is what I liked about him, he visited his patients every morning.  This is what I am looking forward to.. Silly I know.. but I just fell in love with him.. He is oh so nice and sincere and gentle... okay I will stop being mushy.   How long were off work??  I told my employer 2 weeks.  I don't know if it will be more or less.. Oh well.. they understand.   Talk to ya later.... Jodi :O)

Yup, it will be at Blodgett. They have their own "Bariatric Wing"...I had my own room. I can't say I was very conscius while I was there. I had surgery at 11am and slept the entire day (between the anesthesia and pain meds)...and I went home the next day. The earliest Dr. Foote releases is at  3pm the following day. I received a visit from the nurse who was in the OR, Randy (Foote's PA--LOVE HIM) and Dr. Foote the following day.  What kind of surgery are you haivng?? I didn't see the dietician or exercise physiologist (I love Andy too!!) prior to surgery. I'm anxious to see them at my 6wk. check (10/01)!! I was on the Medical Weight Loss Program last year and used their food.. let me know if you have any questions re: what's good!!

Good Morning...I am having the RNY.  I go this Wednesday to get all the food a stuff.  I did buy a sample pack from them.. but only tried some of the bars.  Yes would love to know what is good and what is not.  Just from being in the waiting room at Foote's office I heard some things are really bad and just plain bland.  I'll be looking forward to hearing what is good.   Thanks for all your help.. Most of the bars are bearable...did not like the one with the raisins (double choc??)...I LOVED the yogurt crunch bars. The spaghetti was good (you can actually chew--which was a nice option from just drinking). The chilli is spicy but you can combine it with the tomatoe soup to lessen the taste. The jellos were good as were the soy nuts. Stay away from the plain oatmeal...I didn't like either oatmeals but some like the apple/cinnamin with splenda. The fruit drinks were good. I did not like any of the soups or any of the drink/pudding packets. However, the ready to drink ones weren't that bad.  A tip is to cook things on the stove..it makes a difference. Everyone is different and likes different things...I just threw away tons of leftover boxes--too bad or I would have given them to you! Good luck. And I do remember seeing the nut, exercise and PA before surgery...DAH! It'll be a group meeting. BTW, I called Dr. Foote's office this morning and he had no problem with me returning to work today. If only he was there Friday..... Keep me posted on how things go!
