Newbie here just to say hi!

Hello to all! I am new to the message boards and the possibility of getting wls. I have been reading these boards for a while and my wife, Holly, has had the micro-pouch surgery done by Dr. Sapala a few years back so I'm new to the boards but know a little about what everyone goes through. I have also read kp's blog, wife thinks me and him have the same smart remarks..lol. I am looking for a doc to perform my surgery, every doctor I looked into has left or is leaving so I gues it's Dr. foote now but I'll look into it. Any suggestions would be great! I would like the micro-pouch like my wife had but I would also be willing to have the basic gastric bypass surgery, but not the lap band. The only concer I have is my BMI is 39 but I do have other obesity related issues. I know it may sound strange to some of you but I would rather gain a few pounds and go over the  40 BMI mark so I don't have a hard time with my insurance. As it stands now I can have it, but I'm worried about the insurance Balking at it.   Mike

Mike, I don't think they do the micro pouch much any more.  I had the standard RNY (laproscopic) with Dr. Foote and Ive lost 140 pounds and am now at goal after 1 year and 3 months.  I just love him and he'll go over your records and suggest the type of surgery that he thinks would suit you best but in the end, he'll go with whatever you want.  I think you'll be in very good hands with Dr. Foote and I don't think he's going anywhere although I wish he'd move to Phoenix so I could stay with him, lol.

Welcome to the board Mike! I had my surgery done at Barix in Ypsilanti almost 4 years ago. They took great care of me. I would highly recommend them to anyone. This is a great place to be to get questions answered. Take care, Carey
