Lap Band Testing

Does anyone know what tests are performed before the lap band surgery? Jackie

Jackie, It all depends on what tests your doctor usually performs and your medical history.  I have been persuing the lap band thru 2 different hospitals and each had their own requirements.  Good luck on your journey! Kathy

Jackie, I am new at this and so I have had to have tests to make sure I am okay for surgery.  So far:  Heart test, scope test, sleep apnea test, shrink test, blood work, chest x-ray, pulmonary test.  Still waiting for completion of sleep apnea test.  After that it's another appointment with the surgeon for (hopefully) a date for the procedure.  I have been pursuing this since late May, 07.  I thought it would be one visit to the surgeon and then the operation.  NOT.  But I feel better knowing that the doc is checking everything out.   Plus, I was part of the delay when I freaked out and didn't show up for the first scope out of fear.  Had to reschedule.

SnoDov, This is not solely a RNY forum.  This is the Michigan forum and is open to anyone regardless of surgery type.   There is another forum dedicated just to RNY.  But, thanks for pointing out to Jackie that there is a Lap-Band forum.  That was very helpful and I should have thought of that too.
