I am 3 1/2 weeks post op (and down 25lbs, woohoo!) and I am in need of a new Dr. My surgeon's office is about 2 hours away (and he's leaving that office anyway,) and my regular Dr is now moving out of state. I have severe back pain on top of being post-op, so I was hoping someone would have some advise on a Dr they know of that has dealth with both. Well chances are most Dr's have dealt with back pain, but it would be nice to find one that also has some knowledge about gastric bypass too since my Dr knew nothing and wanted me to only do my follow ups with my surgeon who lived far away! Oh did I mention it takes about a month to get an appt with my Dr anyway? Yeah that's not acceptable to me especially when I'm still recovering and in case something goes wrong. Not to mention the massive back pain on top of it. So PLEASE- if you know of a Dr that has experience with post-ops, and will take new patients that are on pain meds, PLEASE let me know because I need to start seeing one soon in order to help me get back on my feet and back to work!!! Thanks!!!

You could try calling Sparrow Weight Management at 364-8080. I just had my surgery through them last week. They don't do primary care services, but if anyone in town would be able to make recommendations, I would think they would be likely to have the information. Call during the day, if you can. They tend to be crazy busy during the evening.

Let me know how it goes for you. I'd love to talk with someone local!

My husband and I use MMPC in Grand Rapids.  I know it's a drive (about an hour) but it was sooooooo worth it.  jenn
